Just put a Berreta 685 on layaway today (wasn't prepared to find this today). I know they seemed to be almost excusively sold by k-mart until 1986 and are similar to the 680, 686, and 682 except they do not have ejectors just extractors (except the 685 E european models) and barrels do not interchange with the other 680 series. But the one I'm buying has nice engraving on the trigger guard with a gold "L"...I know there was a 686 light but never heard of a 685 L (just E and S model), these were so light to begin with I'm not sure they would have made a light weight version. Can any Beretta officianodos confirm if there was an L model? I doubt it was someones initial...that work would have cost more than the gun is worth and looks like the L on the 686 Lights.
