Full disclosure I love the police when they do the right things.
But from watching the Atlanta video I think those cops screwed up. Color don't matter to me. If they shot my friend or family like that I'd be mad.

My thinking. The mob wants a first-degree murder conviction and the death penalty. So what happens if things follow the rule of law and can only obtain say a manslaughter conviction?

" The last thing we need in America is for people to take hard-core sides "

What does that mean?

Some have thrown away their dignity and are actually bowing, scraping, and begging forgiveness for no reason other than being who they are...oh, and for political expediency.

Is that be a better side?

Or, do I misunderstand?

In this current climate they "should have known better" but, if some friend or family member fought with Cops like that and then took a Taser, turned to fire it at them? Well I would say he died of terminal stupidity.
Now what this will lead to is someone stoppled for being behind the wheel drunk and run? Often they will be let run. Then in no time one will get in another vehicle and kill. The people like MADD, and the family of the one killed will be all excited about why was he let go? So people will get what they asked for and be mad when they get it.:s0054:
Bottom line fight with Cops, take Cops weapon (any weapon) and try to use it on Cop? Still damn good chance you are going to get shot. Don't like this? Solution is quite simple. I got popped for drunk driving decades ago. Guess what I did not do.

True
But a let shot would be better so your not up for murder charges.
Also they need better bean bag guns. Lose the tasers and carry a bean bag gun and and normal gun.

I have to assume you have never worked as a Cop? Tried to carry the crap they have to carry? The bean bag rounds they have so far are for a shotgun. They do work BUT, they can and have killed. Guess what happens every time one does kill or maim someone?
Again the one who fired should have known better now. He should have just let him run but, as soon as Cops start to do this lawyers are going to pounce. One of these scum will kill later after let go. Then guess who they are going to come for? The Cop who let them go. Family of people the drunk killed will sue. So again personal responsibility. Its a dirty word now days. No one wants to be an adult.
Another thing we will soon see is a LOT of bad cops. As more and more quit and they can no longer find people to take the job who do you think will end up with the job? People aint seen nothing yet. We will soon have a lot of people running around as Cops who should not even own a gun but, again people get what they ask for.

What's wrong with tasers.

Or perhaps mount a taser on top of a bean bag gun...
They have been a GREAT tool but, they don't always work. Often someone dies not from the Taser but from the dope they had in them while they fight. Then guess what happens? Many departments no longer even allow them. Many who have them are now afraid to use them. This one looks like the Cop waited too long to use his and lost it. No doubt he was afraid to use it on a black guy. Now he ended up shooting one. The real solution here will be a few things. Cops refusing to go to a lot of places and leaving those who live there on their own. Letting people go and they will commit more crime after they let them go. Lot of good Cops will be gone, no one will take the job, so we will see people who should never have the job hired. Will be a lot of fun to watch as people get what they asked for.

with any luck, cops will keep resigning all over the country, and the defunding process will be that much quicker.

You didn't finish the other half of that, and then the amount of lawlessness will grow to epic proportions, cities will burn, and people will cry for their police back. This whole notion of defunding the police postulates that police are the creators of crime in society - asinine.

Yep. This will follow the normal flow it always has. People in some neighborhoods soon see little police. Then crime spikes and guess who screams? The people who live there, well they got what they asked for, why get mad?
When this will get really good is when some of the middle and upper middle class places start to see real crime spike. Remember the "Me Too"? Look how fast that started to eat the people who got it started. This will be the same.

It's just like the homeless problem.
The liberal city leaders decreed that the homeless could set up camp anywhere they so desired and the police were told to back off.
It didn't take long to see property and violence problems spiral out to the suburbs.

I don't know about Chauvin walking, but that cop from the Wendy's shooting in Atlanta is getting railroaded.

There's so many factors in the Chauvin case that I can't unravel it all.

Whereas the Atlanta DA is a crook in a tight race.

Today justice means a verdict the insurgents want.

We may have passed the point of no return, some people have moved to an alternative universe.
It's like the Gulag Archipeligo, they just don't know it yet.

I know these people are actually a small and dangerous minority, but they wield tremendous influence.

I don't know how this ends, but I do know that from now until the election we can count on an unending stream of crises and discord.
Flush the turd November 3rd and lets clean up this mess.

I bet you'd change your tune real quick if your kid goes missing or their school gets shot up.

I say we defund the worthless politicians that created these conditions and increase police funding for better training.

Recipe for failure:
1) Failed Big City Policies, Soft Sentencing, Zero Accountability
2) Leaders push the blame to Police
3) Good Officers leave, Training funds are cut, the caliber of the person entering policing gets worse...

This will turn out well...Said no one ever.

apparently you don't understand what people mean when they say defund the police. They would still exist, but only in the capacity they are actually needed for.

I hear an awful lot about cops having to pretend to be social workers, marriage counselors, homeless advocates, immigration specialists, mental health experts, crisis negotiators, small claims litigators, cold crime report takers, and more. Why should our tax dollars go towards folks who are untrained to do that, and routinely botch those jobs by resorting to unnecessary force.

The natural vicious cycle of mismanagement from the government.

Erase the lessons of history then only the wisdom of the party remains.

Yeah, but none of these cases that stemmed this call to "defund" were any of those things. It was police dealing with criminals committing crimes.
