Does the head of the screw slot look all bunged up? If it is, then there's a good chance the threads are rusted tight and a little heat and a drop of kroil will make it easier to remove.

I don't know -- maybe it's 'cause I'm getting old but this all sounds very "Friday Night!!" to me.

I wish my Friday nights were that exciting!

Reverse drill bit, jewelers type in a Dremel motor. A Watchmakers magnifying lamp would also be great for this.

No the screw slot is nice and clean...no rust and no dings or scrapes from a ill fitting screw driver....

But yep to using KROIL when I attempt to remove the threaded part of the screw
