Here is my solution for rough sprues on the balls I cast.
I call it my Red Neck Tumbler. All you need is a peanut butter jar,
a couple of bolts, clamps and a battery powered drill.
I screwed a couple of pieces of wood inside the jar for agitators.

Personally I just use a safety razor!

I haven't had a chance to try any of them yet, but hopefully it will help to prevent, "Flyers".

Very good illustration. And if the same thing happens when using "tumbled" balls, a flyer like would clearly indicate , , , that the balls need to be tumbled longer next time.

I think I may have skinned that one up.
My rifle muzzle is tight the first 4-5 " even with a .010 patch and if I don't get the ball started with the sprue up, it's really tight.
