They do stand-out when in coyote brn. or other mil-colors but less conspicuous than walking around w/a tennis racquet case I suppose

I do not carry guns that don't have one in the chamber - that's never caused a ND in my lifetime.

Maybe don't carry in a backpack with one in the chamber?

I figure if it's that inaccessible, condition 1 is less important.

My thoughts exactly, I mean if you gotta pull it out of a back pack, racking around seems like it should be part of that motion.

I bet somebody's gonna "fix" that little oversight, if recent legislation is any guide. My dad would not recognize what our states have become. I don't recognize 'em, for that matter.

I've carried in a backpack from time to time. But any time I do, it's in a retention type holster that protects the gun and keeps the trigger completely covered. Never been a problem, but of course, I don't go around dropping my pack either.
