The gunman's sister Tameka Martin told WBEZ that he had worked at Henry Pratt for about 20 years before losing his job about two weeks ago.

Many, if not most, larger employers escort you to the door and won't let you back in when you are let go, just for this reason. NO two weeks to stew on it.

The other thing I find puzzling. If he was let go from work two weeks ago, what was he doing at work TODAY the day of the shooting like he was on regular shift? Said he showed up for work at 7am and then after lunch went ballistic. Nobody thought it strange hes back at work after being fired not even management?.

Normally at a job if you are let go most people know you got canned within the day or a little after that. If it had been two weeks and nobody raised an eye brow to why he's back at work like regular? 2 weeks is plenty of time to have cleared your stuff out and gotten your severance and HR termination paperwork filed.

Unfortunately in this day and age we live in; the media is obsessed with race... always trying to push an agenda, no care for just reporting the news. Sad

I find the opposite around the pdx metro area. Often times when they are still on the lookout for a suspect the media doesn't identify the race as much these days. I have no doubt the cops have the info but it makes it harder for the public to be on the lookout.

I agree with what you are saying my point was that the media is obsessed with pointing out criminals race if they are not a minority, otherwise they lose interest quickly, or so it seems.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Gary Martin had a serious violent criminal history in Mississippi, where he was convicted for stabbing a woman. In Illinois, his offenses were more minor, including illegally altering car speakers and squealing his tires, the Sun Times reported. He was also sued by a landlord.

ABC 7's Mark Rivera also confirmed, "Police are now at gunman Gary Martin's apartment. Martin has violent past. 1995 conviction for aggravated felony assault in Mississippi." The station reported that Martin was a felon.

I don't know how accurate this story is or other ones out there on the WWWeb.

They stated that he used a Smith and Wesson handgun. I have no clue about the gun acc. that has been all over the radio and boob tube news.

Condolences to the families and victims that were murdered and wounded.

So assuming the story is correct we have someone who could NOT own a gun according to the law, yet law makers will not even hesitate to say the answer is to pass more laws. Surely if we pass enough new gun laws all these law breakers will just suddenly give up with crime.

Another prediction is if he wasn't a felon that somehow the ERPO proponents or the proponents for taking gun rights away from less-than-felons will be raising their voices shortly.

I would publicly offer my prayers for the victims and their families but I don't want to trigger anybody like this so I will pray in private:

I have seen this lady on the news before. I feel sad for her and I offer her my sincere condolences.

With that said... she scares the heck out of me.

She is an example of "emotion" over common sense. If some drunk had run her son down she would not be out there screaming to see alcohol outlawed most likely. Even if she did the press would not even show up. Since it was an evil gun, she really probably believes some new law would stop this. You can't reason with that kind of "thinking" .

I too feel sad for her loss and also scared by her reaction. I can imagine that her emotional response will influence many around her and even those who viewed her plea on video to become more active with the anti gun movement.
