States that the federal government says have not adequately changed their licenses to comply with RealID, a measure intended to foil terrorists' efforts to get state-issued identification

Alaska
Washington

So your DL will not be accepted, therefore you'll have to use something federally issued like Military ID or a Passport. Will the FFL not complete your 4473's and other firearms forms ... I wouldn't want to risk a legal battle with BATFE.

OR is not on the list, something I am shocked by.

List of failing states:
Alaska

• Arizona

• Kentucky

• Louisiana

• Maine

• Massachusetts

• Missouri

• New York

• Oklahoma

• Washington

I think, provided I do not have to make my purchase inside a federal building, nuclear power plant, or commercial airliner, I will be okay.

From the DHS: "REAL ID only applies if a person is presenting a driver's license or state-issued identification card for official purposes."

Also from the DHS: "Official uses are defined as accessing Federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants, and boarding federally-regulated commercial aircraft."

Additionally since BATFE falls under the Justice Department, the DHS is going to have deuce of a time trying to say the acceptance of the DL for the 4473 is invalid.

We went through that in Oregon and it's initially a real pain in the rear to get your DL renewed. I believe one of the reasons for this is that some states are now allowing non-citizens to get a drivers license. Since a DL is normally considered a legitimate ID, they are taking precautions to make sure the identification requirements are uniform. I'm a believer in states rights so think it's OK for states to issue whatever type of ID they want. But since a DL is considered ID in all states, I don't see a problem with uniformity.

I have an extended license, the one that let's you drive over the border without anything else.

Would that qualify under this or would I still need something different?
