I think you misunderstand them. I doubt that many of them are actually bothered by this. A few "reasonable, common-sense" laws are fine with most of them. So long as Biden, et al. aren't physically going house to house taking away their fine hunting rifles and skeet guns, I suspect that most of them will defend pretty much anything he does. :(

A "progressive" acquaintance (with a serious gun collection) told me a long time ago that he would be fine with giving up his guns, in return for "a little social justice in this country".
Your acquaintance is an idiot.
He might as well trade his guns for magic beans.
How much social justice does he think his guns will get?

I got to know him well enough to get a bit of an insight into the radical progressive perspective. He was actually very intelligent, but looked at life very differently.

2A people tend to have a more individualist, libertarian mindset, to one degree or another. These liberal gun owners, on average, do not. Their primary mindset is the progressive one: collectivist, with greater faith in the authority and power of government, and the view that if only the "right people" could be in charge and making all the rules, telling everyone else how to live their lives, then everything would be great.

My experience has been that while they like and enjoy guns and shooting, their hobby has little or no effect on their political views.

This is just my personal experience, and a wide generalization at that.

I think a lot of 2A type people look at leftist gun owners in confusion, and think "What's wrong with you? Why do you vote against your rights?"

In return, leftist gun owners are confused, and ask "What's wrong with you? Guns are just my hobby. Social justice and the greater good of mankind is more important than my personal hobby."

I understand what you're saying. I know brilliant people who are incredibly naive, nonetheless, I get your point in that there are people who view guns/shooting as a hobby only. One they can walk away from if something better comes along. In your acquaintance's case it would appear that something is a perceived good in the form of social justice. For myself, and I suspect at least a few other folks on this forum, I'm a bit rabid about personal firearms ownership and the Second Amendment. I've read enough history to know what happens when people try to force their idea of "Good" or Social Justice" or whatever on people who don't think that their greater good is all that great.
For me, the Second Amendment is social justice. The great equalizer

(As I read the above, I realize I sound awfully sanctimonious, but right now that expresses how I feel about the matter. To me "Social justice" or "We want justice" is just another way of saying "Write me a check!" And the left's desire to impose their will on me is why I cherish the Second. It's the last box.)

For the record, my former acquaintance's view is not my view. I posted it just to help understand their view.

It actually does make sense, when you understand it from their perspective. It's a very attractive perspective in a way, if you think about it. It sounds great in theory. The one minor problem is this little thing called human nature.

Society changes and evolves, but human nature does not, no matter what your ideology. We witnessed that fact recently, with the craziness of last year, and "progressives" calling for the mass arrests and "re-education" of their political opponents.

Society is a thin veneer, with the underlying human nature of the people in that society being essentially the same as the people of earlier times who did some pretty terrible things on a national level.

SJWs don't think that the police will be coming for their guns, especially if they only have a revolver or a shotgun, and for some of them, it might be true - for now. This is one reasons why gun control pols/et. al. are advocating for "assault weapon bans"; as such, it is palatable for some gun owners as they believe they don't own such firearms (and that might be true - depending on how "assault weapons" is defined) - for now.

Later, once most firearms in civilian hands are either registered (de facto or mandatory), then those in power will come for the next category of firearms that they demonize (probably a class of handguns), then the next (all handguns), then the next and so on, until almost all firearms are either removed from civilian hands or are buried/hidden somewhere.

It is the old divide and conquer, and we all know it.

I was talking about the various forms of Marxism/socialism that are so popular nowadays.

Socialist Justice - it depends on how you define it. I do believe in social justice, but to me it means equal justice under the law for all people.

American history is full of terrible injustices for many different groups of people, who did not get equal justice under the law. Many things have changed for the better, in that regard.

That's not exactly what the SJWs are talking about, though...

If someone is willing to "give up their guns" for "a little bit of social justice," they don't need to wait for the government to do so.

Have them take their guns to the inner city, or some area populated with oppressed/underrepresented portion of the population in their area and donate their guns and some ammo to the local populace.

Arm the oppressed, and then the oppressor has a more difficult time, no?

That's justice. The only reason to add extra words is if we don't mean plain old justice anymore but we want to trick fools into thinking we still do.

Is there a required class that wannabe beuracrats have to attend that teaches them how to cobble-together McGurkin like this?;
"ATF routinely meets with our regulated industry participants to discuss matters of mutual concern."

Huh?

Meanwhile the NSSF, who actually represents the "regulated industry participants" says, "Yeah... no. We don't know WTF she's talking about".

...at least in Wa. State, (pistol/rifle) you can't legally sell the lowers UNLESS they have an approved ffl # on them.
That's federal. You can't legally transfer an unserialized firearm. Therefore, just like the thugs who reportedly cross state lines to bring guns back into their own cesspool to kill their neighbors... it never happens.

And they lived happily ever after.
Laws are magic.
The End.

Can you transfer a unserialized firearm between private parties in states that allow private transfers without FFL?
