"Should such "orders" ever be given to deny the second amendment rights of a Citizen based on the presumption of a bureaucrat, we would advise members of law enforcement to stand down and disobey such clearly unconstitutional and thus unlawful orders. Every oath-taker has the very clear legal responsibility to do so. Civil and criminal punishments are often times the result of governmental officials who obey unlawful orders. "

He and anyone like him would get ours as well. We need a White House, Congress and Senate filled with people JUST LIKE HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We should ALL spread the Oathkeepers promise to as many people in office as possible and also to any candidate running for any office in this land.

"The requirements "proposed" to own a rifle or shotgun are so stringent, that a person could be denied their right to do so if a governmental official decides "presumably" that a person is not of good moral character."

Who the **** lets politicians, of all people, decide what is morally sound? political figures are some of the most disgusting, corrupt people in the country. Whats more? They probably decide what is moral based off of some B.S. christian ideology that they themselves don't even adhere to. Republican politicians for gay sex? Pretty common if you ask me, what is worse about it is that they are the same people who condemn gays for even existing.

"After all our right to defend ourselves doesn't come from government, it comes from God and it cannot be taken away by a "presuming" administrative official." The Constitution itself is just an affirmation of our natural rights."

This again makes me laugh because of the use of "God" as a defense against legislation. I think we can all agree that a population that is well armed is a population with less crime, but a population that calls the ownership of a gun a "natural right" also seems silly. How do we naturally have the right to something completely unnatural? A gun, in my opinion, is much the same as owning any other machine, we aren't born with a right to own one, we adopt the machine into our lives via need and competition. Perhaps I am splitting hairs here, but that paragraph is just silly.

Didn't the Nazis use that defense at the Nuremberg trials, that they were just doing what they were supposed to do - following orders.

Seriously? Anybody ever hear of Godwins law? I swear, everyday the arguments get more and more asinine.

To ascribe to the philosophy that you can protect the civil rights of the citizens without taking a principled stand against wrongful orders and edicts is both naive and woefully inadequate. If you do the math it just doesn't add up.

Finally some logic devoid of God or Nazis, that is a man i could vote for!

Tyleracc:

I have never seen so much backwards verbage in my life. You make a good advocate for gun control.
My opinion is: he meant we are all have the god given right to self preservation and the instincts to do just that. And that includes what ever tool, machine, of other strength that we have at our disposal. Also he is afirming that he will stay with the oath he gave to support our country and constitution against those that would attempt to undermine it. Your badmouthing of his intent, because of the way he may say things, is more in line with what a socialist would do. Double speak and subversion. Why do you come to a firearms forum to badmouth anyone who will stand up and support the 2nd Amendment.??????????????????

I see a lot of wannabe anti-gun mindbenders inhabiting this forum.
and Old time soviet style word pushers.........

Don't forget that a Federal Judge recently ruled that if Arizona was to enforce Federal immigration laws, it would do "Great harm to the Federal government." So why would any city, county or state government want to enforce Federal anti-gun laws? Wouldn't that do great harm to the Federal government, too? Do local governments owe their allegiance to those of us who pay their salaries or to the out-of-control Federal bureau-rats?

Understand also that "Under GOD" implies that the rights recognized in our constitution are granted by a higher authority than Man, therefore CANNOT be revoked by any elected officials. This discussion is not about Gay rights or republicans, it is about a LEO standing up and stating he will do the right thing in the event the Fed. decides to act contrary to our governing documents.

Here in Josephine County, we have a very good Sheriff. He has in the past publicly announced very similar sentiments regarding gun control.

From THIS article:

“You’re not going to have your weapon taken away by this person,” Gilbertson said, which prompted applause. “Unless you use it wrong,” he added, resulting in laughter.

If shooting in the county, Gilbertson said, people need to make sure to do it safely and have a backstop.

“Just do it safe, that’s all I ask,” Gilbertson said. “Make sure it doesn’t ricochet. That’s another issue.”

One audience member asked Gilbertson about the possibility of troops from the United Nations being used to disarm local residents. Gilbertson responded that he briefly worked for the U.N., and is determined to defend his constituents against any such intrusion.

“They’ll never step foot on this turf,” Gilbertson said. “They are not a good group.”

First, for anyone to suggest I am against the 2nd Amendment is either a liar, or at the very least, misinformed. I have always believed in the Constitution. In fact, I have put my life on the line in numerous conflicts, throughout the world, to preserve and promote our way of life.

We are a poor County. The O&C timber revenue has always supported county law enforcement. The loss of that revenue is proportionate to the level of service we can provide. One of our responsibilities (under ORS) is to provide Court security. We lack the funding to provide 24/7 coverage of patrol, only use 43% of our jail, lack adequate support in court security, amongst other duties – so, we spread out what we have to the best we can.

I have personally provided public classes to our citizens on how to defend themselves, which includes the use of various levels of force. We are weak in law enforcement in this County and I believe it a duty for this Sheriff to provide the public with the knowledge on how to legally protect themselves, others, and their families.

To take guns away from citizens lessening their ability to protect themselves, especially given our weak law enforcement presences, would be a true injustice that I will not abide by. As long as I remain Sheriff of this County, I will fight to uphold our Constitutional rights.

Just goes to show you not all people in power are against gun owners. :s0155:

Except Armbruster's platform also states he wants to eliminate the separation on church and state, and allow religious brainwashing in public schools.

He was suspended from his duty as a PA police office for failing to arrest a religious group protesting gays on campus for disturbing the peace. Turns out he is a member of the group (Repent America), which "opposes evolution, abortion, and homosexuality".

That's why the #2 item on his platform states:

"I will protect the religious and free speech rights of the Citizens of Carbon County by refusing to enforce any provisions in the federal or state hate crime statutes that would criminalize the conduct of any pastor, priest or individual for speaking and/or teaching biblical precepts. "

In my opinion, this is basically a personal crusade with him because he got suspended for not arresting one of his religious buddies. Great way to mix your religious beliefs with the business of the state, Steve.

Is that the best you can do 8ball?

Where do you read "he wants to eliminate the separation on church and state, and allow religious brainwashing in public schools."
That doesn't appear anywhere that I can find. "Religious brainwashing" indeed. The "order to arrest" was an illegal one, so it is only right that he refused it. I expect EVERY law/peace officer in the U.S. to do the same. Regardless of religious preferences.
You would be wise to follow suit.

That's why the #2 item on his platform states:

Are you serious?!? What are pastors and priests supposed to speak about? The benefits of secularism?
By definition, speaking about "biblical precepts" is their JOB!
So free speech is okay as long as you don't disagree with it?
Who do you think you are, the ACLU?!?

In my opinion, this is basically a personal crusade with him because he got suspended for not arresting one of his religious buddies. Great way to mix your religious beliefs with the business of the state, Steve.

Interesting that both of these links refer to a website that doesn't seem to exist.
At least my browser can't find it.
So he is affiliated with a pro-christian faith group, that decries homosexuality. Don't most christian faith groups have a problem with homosexuality?
I think they do.
And now he refuses to uphold illegal laws, and advocates ignoring unlawful orders,... Certainly qualities I would expect-from/look-for in law enforcement.

Two out of three ain't bad! Especially when the "two" are those two.

Well, I can't help you if the links don't work for you but he spells out his views pretty clearly on his Facebook page and several interviews around the net. I remember it specifically because there was a long discussion about the case at Reddit last year.

So this is what it takes for a police officer to get suspended WITHOUT pay - He refused to violate the Constitution and forcefully remove people peacefully assembling at Kutztown University. : reddit.com

His actions in refusing an order were hypocritical, because the guy had a clear conflict of interest.

By the way, his lawsuit was also dismissed.
