I picked up on that as well. Now you see it, now you don't.

That was my one complaint with the upgrade but I figured out how to fix it.
Go to your profile and choose Preferences under Account Settings. Then go to Navigation Hiding and click Disable for whichever type of device you are using (Computer or Mobile). Then scroll down and click Save

Yep, this is the solution. I did it to increase the visible space, especially on smaller devices. I figured some people wouldn't care for it though, so I added the option
