Actually, you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find anyone who said the AZ violated the rights of illegal immigrants, it seems everyone that objected to it, here anyways, objected to it because it allowed for the violation of rights of people that DO have the right to be in America (that is citizens and legal residents).

It is specifically FORBIDDEN to do that, by this very law. They can only ask people who they have already contacted for other, non-immigration purposes (speeding ticket, burglary bust, assault etc.). And even then, they must be able to show why they have a reasonable suspicion that the person might be an illegal alien. If they can’t show that, then they are STILL forbidden to ask for any immigration I.D. Police who do otherwise, are themselves in violation of the law, and can be prosecuted.
This law says NOTHING that hasn’t already been illegal for the last 70 years. It merely gives Arizona police the authority to enforce them. In fact, the Arizona law is IDENTICAL to Federal laws that have been on the books since 1940. The only difference is, Now Arizona police can enforce those provisions too… and the only thing Arizona police can do, is turn the illegal aliens over to Federal authorities. Arizona police cannot deport the illegal aliens or otherwise punish them.

That only became true AFTER the original bill was amended, the amending measure was signed just yesterday, but the original bill has been law for before that and most definitely didn't forbid that. The original said any lawful contact at all would suffice, it didn't have to involve getting pulled over for a traffic violation, or loitering or any other reason at all. What's more, it's the amended bill that disallows any use of race as a reason for investigation.

The amended bill, is one that is much easier to get behind.

Apparently the deputy stumbled onto illegals smuggling bales of pot over the border so they shot him with a ak.

Come on, we have to play by the lefts convoluted rules.
"Apparently the deputy stumbled onto (alleged) illegals (allegedly) smuggling bales of pot over the border so they (allegedly) shot him with a (what someone said was an) ak."

I don't believe we should put US troops on the border but I do believe we need to multiply the number times ten of policing personnel, along with dawgs, helicopters and cameras to secure our borders! And I would suggest we start looking at every "alleged" citizen of foreign birth when they are pulled over for traffic infractions. They don't speak english? Ship them home!

It pisses me off everytime I hear the politicians and left wingers claim that we can't send the illegals home. They say it is just to big of a task so we need to just make them citizens. B.S. We need to enforce the laws of the land and as we stumble onto them, we ship them home.

We need to build a big wall on our southern border and put manpower on it. It is rediculous that politicians would have us believe that it would be too big of a expense and too big of a project to build the wall. Maybe Obama should have taken a bit of that stimulus money and put people to work on the border building that wall.

The Mexican Guberment is attempting to take control of the drug trade..and hence the profits from same.. Keep in mind..Mexico's leaders are even more corrupt than our own current administration..

It isn't only the mexican government, ours too wants to get into the drug trade by legalizing pot.

this sort of thing is precisely why the state enacted their law. They've had done with this sort of brutality.

Interestingly enough, there is NOWHERE in the federal Constitution that gives the Federal Government any authority whatever on immigration. Thus, under the Tenth Ammendment, that power falls to the states.... or to the people. SO-- if the Feds have no power to deal with it, and the state does, what's the problem with Arizona finally stepping up the plate and TAKING responsibility through their legal process? I mean, California's whacked out gun laws ARE clearcut violations of the US Constitution.... but there is no national move to boycott them for that...... here, a state does what clearly lies within their jurisdiction.... and catches flak for it.

Go figure. So, the issue ain't immigration, is it?

tionico for the win

For years, their family thrived with jobs in restaurants and construction, reports CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella. Their 10 children were born here and are U.S. citizens. Both she and her husband are undocumented, and currently unemployed.

See the problem anyone?

The family packed up before dawn today and headed north to Colorado. Manuela says she's lost hope in this state. She thinks she'll find it again in another.

Yes, they will go to CA and CO and several other states, where they will continue to get free medical care, welfare, food stamps and other free goodies at our expense, while millions of us are out of work or underemployed

Perhaps all that financial impact Bugeye is speaking of will be the Employees at the state welfare offices that will lose their jobs when their client base is deported?

During all the recent protests...they interviewed a lady of hispanic decent and she said that we don't consider ourselves criminals, we consider ourselves workers. My question is...What part of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT does not make you a criminal? I have said this before. Just like somebody caught up in our legal system. If you are in jail...you have no civil rights. If you are in this country illegally...you have no rights. Why is that so hard to understand?

Restaraunts and construction jobs. Hmmm, that doesn't sound at all like the popular representation of illegals scrubbing toilets and picking fruit. Those sound like jobs that plenty of legal citizens would take.

Here is mayor Adams thoughts.

"Mayor Adams is profoundly upset by the civil rights implications of Arizona's new policy, which all but legitimizes racial profiling," spokesman Roy Kaufmann writes in an email. "We've already been in contact with Portland's Hispanic and Latino community leaders and we're studying our options to decide appropriate next steps. In the meantime, we applaud the civic leaders in Arizona who've already stood up and called for challenging their state's actions. And we want all Arizona entrepreneurs, especially those entrepreneurs in the Latino community, to know that Portland is open for business and welcomes all they have to offer."

Guess what other state they are going to invade. If you would like to share your feelings with him his email is [email protected].

Well Sam Adams has been known to overlook certain laws such as statutory rape and what not in the past.....
