I go with whatever works, and I like to have a layered defense.Call me old school and no disrespect to anybody but if I am shooting an AK there is only one true caliber in my opinion 7.62x39. That's why I will never shoot another 7.62x39 AR it is unholy! AR15 is .556 now don't get me wrong the calibers in between can be tons of gun but as far as functionality and reliability I'm sticking to the OG calibers lol
Get home guns and guns to be used while doing chores outside, are the PS90 and Five Seven in 5.7x28 to get to the house/cover.
Retreat to home/cover, or use from fixed points (observation post, roadblock, etc.) where the user is expecting engagement, then use 5.56x45 and/or 7.62x39
For soft armor or distant targets, 7.62x51
I don't give a bubblegum about what is traditional. If I did I would be shooting a Garand and a 1911, not an AR or AK.
