One of my dogs goes into attack mode whenever any animal gets on TV especially dogs. He used to bark at the TV for a minute or so then run outside to bark at the other side of the wall the TV is on. Now he just barks at the TV.dogs mostly, but mine acts like a cat sometimes.

When I bought the Wife one of the super picture new TV's last year all of our dogs at first were freaking out. Picture looked at first like it was a window and they would go nuts till they finally got used to it.One of my dogs goes into attack mode whenever any animal gets on TV especially dogs. Our 6-month old male Doberman pup is at the age when he starts noticing things. A couple nights ago there was a commercial with a dog, he flew off the couch, poked the TV with his muzzle (damn near pushing it over), roaring with his hackles up, then went running around into the kitchen looking for the dog in the window. It took him several minutes to give up the quest. When I bought the Wife one of the super picture new TV's last year all of our dogs at first were freaking out. Mine is still doing it after 10 years if my wife is sitting there watching TV he is sitting right next to her staring at the TV waiting for the next animal show up. Watching nature shows is absolutely out of the question. When I bought the Wife one of the super picture new TV's last year all of our dogs at first were freaking out. I think it's easier with dogs, especially if you get a puppy to create the dog you want. With cats it's a lot harder that said I've trained my cat to be as close to a dog as possible. I'm not allowed to have dogs at my residence. My cat fetches, heels, comes when called without treats, jumps on my shoulder when I tell it to and generally listens more often than a stereotypical cat would. Still not a dog, but I'm OK with it.Ok, what type of person are you?
A loyal 4 legged canine that will obey you if trained correctly?
Or
A sometimes loyal, all the time finicky, plays in its turds and some may be the anti-Christ feline?
No judgments here, just curious what the split is. (The above is meant to be funny mostly but I do feel that way plus I'm allergic to cat hair so even growing up with them, I am not personally a fan).
They make extra large shock collars these days. pretty sureHard to train an animal if your wife always treats it like a puppy.
We had a cockatiel for a couple years. What a horrible bird. We never did clip his wings though. Would screech or sing to any thing green. A pillow, or when he was on your shoulder and you were prepping broccoli dinner. Weirdest was, HIM getting on his swing, in the cage, and getting his genital's over the perch and, and, well, swinging/rocking from side to side, I'll say, "Satisfying" himself. He'd practically fall of the swing at completion.I have only had a Cockatiel. Inherited from a daughter who found out she couldn't have it in her apartment. He became my buddy and spent most of his waking hours on my shoulder. He would sit there while I was coding and I would talk to him. One evening I guess I asked him, "What do you think about that"? He looked at the screen, cocked his head, looked back at me and said, "What do you think"? He also knew what, "Don't bite meant". After 6 years as my friend he was buried at sea in Desolation Sound.
This is true. But my wife wanted our dog trained and she did it when she was off of work for a few months. She gives him the "mom voice" and he snaps to attention! It's funny.Hard to train an animal if your wife always treats it like a puppy.
Flies? My cats are the kings and queens of box elder season!Funny about the TV watchers! I have a little 32" TV monitor in my home office I use for camera surveillance and both cats use it to keep an eye on anything going on, the UPS man, crows, other cats, etc. A window is ten feet away but that is only ONE view. They prefer to monitor four views/directions at once. The only thing a real window offers is a little sunlight Oh wait, no, fly hunting also.

I'm not used to seeing TWO eyes on a cat. But when Jack gets the above look in that one eye, you're about to get attacked. Wifey loves to put her face down there, Jack will attack, no claws and slap both of hers ears.Funny about the TV watchers! Animals can be quite impressive with what they learn. We have 8 motion detectors around the house. 4 in close, 4 further out. Each one makes a different chime tone to tell you were the movement is if you are not in front of one of the units. It did not take the dogs long to learn which tone meant with area to run to and bark. First time Wife saw it she was shocked that they had figured it out.Funny about the TV watchers! Or... not. Our newest cat sits for hours on end watching the bird feeder that is stuck to the dining room window. When a bird lands, he lunges - "THUNK" his head goes against the glass. Maybe he's got brain damage by now, so he has an excuse. Usually, the bird will at least fly off, but there are some smaller ones that just sit in the seed bin and ignore/torment him. Our older cat is far too fat and lazy to get caught up in all of this. Maybe once a day she will leap up onto the windowsill, but despite her vast bulk there is no loud "THUNK".Animals can be quite impressive with what they learn.
