that was my idea plus reminding those to vote, our voting turnout in oregon sucks
It was terrible in WA too, especially in odd years (45% or less) That can be an advantage, as low numbers are for all sides. I tried to convince the repeal I-1639 group to wait a year for the odd year cycle, but no dice.

"Supreme Court and District Courts have ruled such laws to be unconstitutional" (Bruen, et al)

" the first Federal Assault Weapons ban did not reduce crime significantly."

"California's failed gun policies have resulted in mass exodus of Californians, do you want the same to be true of Oregonians?"

"If this pass, you won't be able to buy new guns, new ammo for hunting, for your family, and for defense for a few years until they get the funding for the requirements."

"With a lack of effective policing and cutting police budgets, they want the criminals to have all the power over you"
Don't know, you all know Oregon areas better than I. In western WA for example, you need to tie to progressive ideas, like standing against big government, combatting racism, fairness, and the independent spirit. Non gun owners wouldn't really care so much about what you had, no offense. And the voice/face need to be "the oppressed", and make that clear by using BIPOC faces/voices or announcing their intersectionality in the ad, on the air, in the article, etc. You know your state, appeal to them in Oregonian.

We have more unaffiliated voters than Democrat voters, and far more of these than Republican voters. A significant amount of voters across Oregon are hunt/fishing sportspeople, and TimberUnity got a lot more attention and turnout than just 2A. So tying it with hunting and recreation, as well as with the crime increases may do a lot more than tying 2A with progressive issues anyhow.

I was thinking of comparative to the worthless jail paid by taxpayers that couldn't open because they had no budget for officer

That's my biggy.
Sherrifs already stated estimate cost just to sherrifs is around 50 million
Right now they have a zero extra budget. They cant hire cops period, so how is this paid for?
So work that angle too

Per stacker.com, which gets data from USFWS, only 7.8% of Oregonians had hunting licenses in 2020...

So you'd act homeless????
No. I would use intellect, facts and reality in a loud and disrespectful manner in an attempt to convey my less than any regard I have for them and their incredibly unrealistic proposals to control guns.

In short I would hope to send them leaving and crying after the hate and discontent (but all legal) I would present to them.

Would this necessarily be the right thing to do? Probably not but given the abject hate I have for people who support causes like this I would not be able to contain myself......

Better framed as "do you want your tax dollars being spent doing these things, or housing the homeless" is what I was getting at, generally.
Oh I got ideas
Low and fixed income and the most vulnerable will not be able to defend themselves any longer. Due to excessive costs and most likely long travel to preform tests and thats if there even is public transportation to get them there if that's their mode transportation.
Which by large are people of color and those with disabilities on fixed income

Best framed as essentially a "poll tax" to execute Second Amendment rights, what with the new licensing requirement.

A civil right, defined as the second amended to the constitution , enumerated in the bill of rights…. And the socialists in Oregon want to put a tax on it…

I would also advise you tell these people that ran out and panic bought guns the last two years for their first time during riot season and covid closures that they wouldn't be able to do that no more if this were to pass. Relate it to the LA riots when people in California were baffled that they had to wait a few days to walk out with a gun when SHTF.

Cite the Bruen ruling which clearly states you have a right to defense both in home and in public. Remind them that SUPCO recognized no other constitutional protected right needs a government permit to exercise in that ruling.

Local Gun Stores need to be broadcasting this as their business will be very impacted by the lack of people being able to buy guns for the first couple months. You need to wait 30 days AFTER being cleared to exercise a constitutional right from the state to get a PERMIT to then go and buy a gun.

Driving is a privilege
Guns are a right
Don't put a right behind a privilege

Not even California/NYC have this level of control for general ownership for just purchasing. Those are for concealed carry which 25 states have now implemented constitutional carry and have had no issues with in the following months.

Reminder the 94 AWB cost them dearly in votes the following year for enabling it.

First couple months? I'll bet due to lack of organization and all the requirements that will need to be implemented I'd say six months at a minimum after beginning date.

Look at what CA went through with just a BGC system to buy ammo. It was a nightmare - and probably still is.

Precisely and if we can't have open FFLs how are we going to be buying any guns/ammo/accessories period.

I know the big meme is ghost guns and how it's so ez to crank those out in a matter of minutes but not every one has the tools or know how to pull that off effectively and how they think ordering a gun online is like Amazon prime same day delivery voiding a 4473.

Going with 4473's guess where all those go when your FFL/LGS closes and remember EVERY bit of your personal information is on that form same with everything on that gun you bought.

measure 114 is very dangerous and they'll be vying to dupe as many useful idiots into voting it in doing maximum damage right away knowing full well it'll take years of litigation to reverse.

Educate people about current gun laws vs the drastic changes this will enforce after passing. We need big names getting awareness and circulation out from local people with influence like Lars Larson and big name guntubers. Tell your friends and family and coworkers.

This site really needs a giant info thread about measure 114 that's locked and conveys all this info in a simple to digest format. It also needs to be spreading the word within to ALL members immediately about the dangers of this measure.

I did a trade the other week and the member had no clue 114 was a thing until I told them, even then the FFL didn't have any easily seen notice about 114 and only slid a piece of paper from OFF to the person to read.

Remember to vote NO ON MEASURE 114.

I may end up making some trips to Montana/Idaho/Arizona earlier than expected. Haha.
