I have a tree in my backyard that I hate and want to cut down.

Just curious as to what type of tree it is here are some photos of it.

Take a branch and whatever it is in your hands that looks like rabbit droppings and go to the WSUV horticulture satilite (it's on NE 78th St just east of I5) and they should be able to tell you right away.

I hear they have master gardeners there every day of the week.
 
Looking at the nut and bark, I would have said Linden too. Although, I know them to have serrated edges like the elm. It's a popular landscaping tree because it grows easily, not many pests or diseases bother it, and it doesn't get too big.
I would still stick with that classification, since there are so many varieties of Linden.

The other species I would have considered was choke cherry, which you seldom see growing in specimen form like what you have, and the bark is very different.
