Your going to be amazed by the fire that comes out of it's snout with that birdcage on the end.

I have a few A2 flash hiders in my spare parts so that is what I used. I guess I should look for another flash hider that would be better for a pistol. I believe I also have a Troy Medieval muzzle brake but I was saving that for a rifle build.

I would shoot it first and see what it is like I am guessing it will be a flame breathing monster and quite impressive to see. I just built a 10.5" and this jp three prong model works great. Shooting it from the hip and staring at the muzzle I could see no flash or flame in morning light.

Isnt there some type of forward grip that can be added to an ar pistol without messing up the legal classification?

Yes they are at different angles to get around the law saying it can't be "vertical"

I wish I had saved the youtube video that I was watching since I cannot find it now. But you cannot put a vertical grip but the Magpul AFG or others none veritcal grips are good I believe. This is the one I bought:
