AR hand guard swap

hey guys I'm wondering if someone can help me out with something. I currently have a rainier arms hand guard on my AR and want to swap it out with a longer one. My question is will i need to change barrel nut as well. I'm looking at the dirty bird SMRS slim mlock. Does anyone know what barrel nut that one takes or can you tell me if my current one will work. Just trying to see how big of a job it's going to be to swap hand guards

Those two pictures are of a standard AR barrel nut. You would have to research or ask the manufacturer if they use a standard or a proprietary barrel nut to get your answer.

According to their website, they include an aluminum "no shim" barrel nut. So I'd say the short answer is no.
