AR-15 Zombie Build

Bought the first couple parts yesterday! let the build begin!

Got the Rainier Arms Zombie lower, and a JP lower parts kit w/o a trigger.


Here's the new lower:




I decided to do some color filling as well.

Here is some of the progress of it:








Still needs a little more clean up and maybe a few more touch ups. I touched up the rainier arms logo on the front which is drying right now, but I think it is coming along nicely, especially for my first attempt at color filling anything.

I'm using model enamel paint for the color fill.

going with the zombie theme for fun.

Charging handle, charging handle latch, and maybe the mag catch will also be zombie themed


more to come as funds allow and sales, etc.. I'm not in any rush to build it.

Gotta admit, that looks pretty cool, and I'm not a big fan of the black rifles. That absolutely requires you score some of the Hornady Z-max bullets. I tried them in a Remington 700 .223 and they shoot as good as Sierra match grade bullets.

where did you score that at? I'm still debating which rail I'm gonna use, SAR13.2 from spikes or a troy alpha or bravo in 13inch. That is definetly a nice rail you got there.

They do, but everyone is sold out of the "lite rail" and "lite rail II."

They should be releasing the lite rail III soon.

it's a clearance item so get them while you can! once they sell out they are gone for good.

Daniel Defense isn't making the lite rail and lite rail II anymore. they are starting a lite rail III line shortly and you can expect they will cost a premium just like the two predecessors did ($395+ea)

So been looking at optics for the build, and I'm thinking a EOTech 552 with a Vortex VMX-3T is gonna be the ticket.

Can get the pair for under $700 new.

Yeah, I've seen those.

definitely a cool lookin reticle

also been looking at the 556 EOTech just because it has the buttons on the side and uses dual R123a batteries. 1200hrs of continuous use on lvl12. pretty damn good battery life and buttons on the side should make it much easier to use with a magnifier behind it.

This was my first AR build

Just ordered some more parts today.

Came across another deal I couldn't pass up...

Got the barrel I've had my eye on for a while, and it came with a free stripped flat top forged upper receiver.

$272 after tax and shipping for the barrel.

It's a Blackhole Weaponry 16" Carbine M4 416R Stainless Steel 1:8 3 groove poly rifled 5.56 barrel.

Just a couple more pieces to the puzzle. Plenty more to get though.

New parts just arrived!

The free SAA upper fits nicely and snug with no slop at all on the rainier lower.


And the Blackhole Weaponry 5.56 stainless steel barrel.



did a quick test fit between the barrel and upper, and the m4 feed ramps line up perfectly and it is a nice snug fit getting the barrel in the upper.
