I have a circa 1987 genuine Colt AR-15 SP1.

It has the Triangle style front grips, and has been unmolested.

Factory assembled gun.

I have no idea what the round count is but probably in the 3000+ range.

It works perfectly.

It has one or two scratches, but other than that, normal wear and tear.

I know it is a Pre-Ban, unregistered, untraceable rifle.

I'm trying to put a value on this thing... perhaps for a trade.

What's it worth?

I know it is a Pre-Ban, unregistered, untraceable rifle.

Pre-ban is meaningless here.

If it's been sold FTF once in it's life, it's "not registerd" ( there are no "registered" weapons here, there are logs of OSP background checks though as well as dealer records of sales )...OK, de-facto registration at best...

Untraceable....mmmmkay....sure....

Soooooo...ya, roughly around $1K, but market is kinda soft, best bet would be to put it on Gunbroker for auction, someone from a "ban state" ( state AWB, like NY ) might pay a premium for an early gun.

I would estimate it currently worth around $900 in the northwest. As was stated before, put it on Gunbroker, the guys in ban states will pay more. Or wait until late October and you might see the value increase dramatically.
