I have one, it's an injected poly lower, they shoot just fine, you can buy the lower 80% finished for $50

This is pretty cheap. But I never built one before. Now Ima research and see how hard it is to build these.

I just built one my self after seeing a Palmetto State deal. It was $377 shipped for the PTAC upper and enhanced lower parts kit. I bought a lower at Curt's for $90 including background check. I also lost a spring and detent and had to replace them for $2. My total was $469 plus a couple hours to put it all together. I feel good about doing it myself, there's a lot of information out there but I used the assembly guide here.

I still haven't shot it or any other AR15 and have only handled them a few times but it was a fun project and I can already see a few changes I will make on the next one.

Good luck, have fun and learn a lot.
    As I always say:
It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

I got into the AR building scene a few years back. Though I have always been very comfortable disassembling and re-assembling an AR, the thought of actually building one was daunting. I just didn't think I had the skill or all the fancy tools to do a good job with a fully functioning and safe firearm.
Well....let me tell you, they are very simple and easy to work on and build provided you have a table or work bench, a vise, and a few inexpensive specialty tools that make the job easier. The satisfaction of building your own rifle is awesome and you can build it exactly as you want it from the ground up, the first time.

I'm on rifle #15 or so....

I don't think there is any building involved on the $399 one. Set the upper on the lower, push the pins in and done.

    Build no. More like assemble.

If you've ever but anything together, like Ikea furniture, than you can assemble an AR 15.
