Anyone interested in the MP5 platform, but not for $2K, the price of the Turkish built ( on HK tooling) MP5 clones has plummeted to $1199 for the "core" gun or $1299 for the gun with an SB side folder...

AimSurplus has them in stock now for a little more.

  1. I agree to the classified rules and terms of service
These are really pretty good for the price, I've examined 3 or 4 and at least one has had a few thousand rounds through it with no trouble.

I will say if you buy one for sure buy it from Atlantic, because lemons happen and they have a very good track record of making things right.

before you order from Atlantic....

the $1299 AP5 with brace from Atlantic comes with 1 mag and, I think, no top rail-
The same gun for $50 more at Aim, looks like it comes with 2 mags and the top rail- I'm going to call tomorrow to see what comes at which price- an extra $50 for a second mag and rail might make sense

Thx for the heads up I just ordered the ap5 p version for $1179 from Atlantic. Hope it's not junk. We'll see I guess.

Ap5 has had less problems than POF from what I've seen. I've been following reports for about a year or so off and on and the newly re-released pof version holy moly some of those are absolutely horribly made. I mean really bad. Fwiw seems to me that full size version has less problems than k version whether it be PTR, pof, ap5, whoever makes it.

For me it's worth the gamble at less than $1200 but no way at $2499 which is what the ap5 and ap5p were selling for just a few months ago. That's a gigantic price drop. I never understood why they were priced so high considering ptr is about $1600. The $400 difference between ap5 as priced now vs ptr = saiga 12 clone shotgun plus $100 leftover for mods or ammo. That's a no brainer for me.

Here are pics of the k version of anyone is interested. Fit and finish of this MKE gun is much better than I expected and even better than some older zenith MKE guns I have held. Have not shot it yet.

I know this is an old thread but few questions: any reliability issues? Has it been pretty fun? Would you suggest it?

Have both full size (ap5) and short version (ap5p). And they are an absolute blast. No reliability issues at all for me. Sbr'd to add stock and foregrip. One or the other makes it into the range bag every time cuz they are just a pleasure to shoot due to the roller delay.

IMG_1848.jpeg I took advantage of the brace "'amnesty" to SBR my AP5 and 5P and outfit them with stocks and foregrips… both have been absolutely flawless -probably 1200 mixed rounds suppressed and un- suppressed. They are immense fun, very accurate and easy to shoot...Lack of LRBHO doesn't really spoil the fun
If you're likely to never stick a can on the end, the AP5M without the threaded barrel is a ridiculously great buy when PSA or Atlantic have them under $900
