What is AOW?

AOW is a classification/acronymn for ANY OTHER WEAPON
this usually means a Short barrel Shotgun like a serbu or other. Unlike most all class III/NFA weapons an AOW in Wa State only requires a $5 tax stamp .Maufacturing your own short barrel shotgun is does not fall under this category. The weapon must be store/dealer bought and liscensed as such.

I don't know WA rules but I suspect the answer depends a lot on whether the particular AOW in question meets your state's definition of "pistol" or "handgun".

In Oregon it's my understanding that an Oregon CHL allows you to carry any concealed handgun, and Oregon's definition of "handgun" is any firearm not designed to be shoulder fired (see ORS 166.210), a definition that just happens to apply to most AOWs.

here is an example of an AOW, this is a SERBU super shorty, based on a maverick, 500 or remington 870.
I believe coctailer gets these in

I don't believe you can carry any Class III or NFA concealed but that is second hand info
