I have been for some time now thinking about building a replica 1885 Winchester Hi wall in 3-4 different calibers.
I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere (any book etc.) that might have drawings and measurements for a rifle of this type.
I will be looking up John Brownings Patents. But having seen many patent drawings they normally don't offer the detail needed for reproducing the item.
Since the chamber is completely in the barrel and there isn't even any version of head spacing to do. I figure an interchangeable barrel falling block would be a gas to make.
And with my own lathe and Mill and 14 years experience as a full time knifemaker I do have a pretty good skill set to rely on.. Plus I have already build 2) Muzzle loaders.
