Anyone know how to fix light primer strikes on H&R handi rifles

I have a NEF, H&R handi rifle in .308 with the 20 inch bull barrel. Its a few years old and now is having light primer strikes and more often than not, not enough to fire a cartridge. Gun is immaculately clean, locks up tight, no weirdness in the trigger feel, but Im lost and would rather fix it myself if possible. Thanks for any help in advance.

Take the cross pin out the holds the hammer in place. Polish it! Also may help to replace the spring. but I doubt it. I've done several pin polish jobs and that's done it. Don't polish the entire pin, just the area the hammer contacts..
Numrich has the hammer spring in stock if you want to replace it, But polish first...
