Hi Guys,

I picked up a decent 1968 model 37 in nice shape, but it's got a full choke barrel and I don't hunt duck or geese or long range and would like to have it bored to a medium choke if possible.

Anyone had this done or know of a Smith in the PDX area that does?

thanks, S.Paw

Not hard to open it up, I used a brake cylinder hone for years. Reccomend Briley if you want choke tubes, concentric perfect work, just send them your barrel. Have your forcing cone lengthened while you're at it, reduce felt recoil and improve your pattern.
Of course changing to a modified or improved modified lead choke will also make it full steel choke.

My 37 was full choke when I bought it from a pawn shop, my second shotgun at age 18. I already had a full choke shotgun, Rem model 31TC, for waterfowl and 27yd trap, so I had the 37 taken out to modified for pheasants and 16yd trap. So sorry I sold it.
