Anyone else into firearm photography?

For me gun pics are all about the angles. Kinda like fast cars - you want to get some of the front as well as some of the side. That and a good backdrop is critical, something that contrasts with the gun to make its outlines pop.

And lighting is key, great looking gun, great background, interesting lines and bad lighting flushes it all away…

I've taken a few photos of guns with various cameras.

I built a lightbox out of 1/2" PVC pipe, a new bedsheet, and a couple of desk lamps with fluorescent bulbs and took this one with my Nikon D70s DSLR. I used one of my black shirts for the backdrop.


This was with a little Canon (I think) pocket digital camera that I used to have. Put the camera on a shelf, set the auto timer and point the gun at the lens. Keep doing it until you get everything aligned just right.



I just use my phone to take pictures these days.
