Jim, I think you really hit the nail on the head: I'm beginning to think that maybe I should have put this post in the Legal and Political section. It really doesn't matter who is nominally in charge in Salem: we are suffering from a thousand cuts and it is getting worse:

My point being that this current legislature in Salem seems to be really over extending itself in every way and I sincerely hope it comes back to bite them in November. There are just too many people being trampled regardless of their political affiliations.

It's not just sb 941 and the cut and paste Bloomberg bills being rubber stamped,

nor the dramatic increases in regulations and the costs of doing business as a small business owner in this state under the current legislature,

nor the absurd increases in fees for simple things like boat registration (anyone got other examples?)....

Combine these insults with the incredibly arrogant behavior and the misuse of "emergency" legislation by the current democrat majority in our state legislature - (just imagine how the dems would freak out if the republicans were in the majority and abusing emergency provisions to assure their pet bills couldn't be overturned by referendum) - with an appointed governor not responsible to anyone and I HOPE we have a recipe for change. I think I'm a pretty mellow and tolerant person, but I've had enough. I've never had a state legislature be so intrusive and harmful to me in a single session both personally and financially as last year's. I've never experienced anything like it and I'm not a young guy.

I can't imagine that there are not a huge number of voters who are extremely unhappy with the way things are going right now. I sure hope it comes back to haunt these fools in Salem come November. And I hope they never see it coming. (But I realize nothing will probably come of it. - sigh - )

I agree with that, it seems as the unhappy (D's) are to ashamed that they caused this runaway train then do the right thing and vote them out. Kinds like a sinking ship, some rats will cling to what's left and never leave.....o_O

The thing is,We ARE being harassed. the current government thinks they should have a hand in everything that goes on in our lives and how OUR money should be spent. they need to back the uckfa off and get the uckfa out. beginning to start sounding more and more like socialism to me...

(uckfa is pig latin for the F word for those who didnt catch on)

BINGO!!!!!!!

Oh quit your complaining, I bought my Last two boats from Oregon. Each time I had to go to WSP to get the trailer inspected (they will not take the owners word that the serial number is correct).
I had to pay sales taxes at their calculations of the value of the boat (not what I paid for it)!!!!! Thousands!!!!!!
All we get is sand and no kiss!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

jbett-

Talk to someone who is an independent agent who can deal with boat titles and is not part of the state government. Try calling Scott at Scokum Marine in Eugene, he knows his stuff: 541 463-0555.

I disagree.... I've bought and sold plenty of boats, and every time I do I go to the actual Marine Board Office in Salem to do title transfers, registration, etc. No pre-printed forms, no waiting on hold, no middle man (who would just send the paperwork to the Marine Board anyway). You pay your fee, it gets entered directly into the computer and you get a printed (not carbon-copy) receipt. It's the best way, IMHO.

If you think about what's happening down below when a Salmon takes a bite of your trolled herring as the boat trolls away from the swirling Salmon who is coming back for another bite, but the bait is gone while you motor away.
So when you see the tip of your rod dip a couple of times, you peel off two or three yards of line as fast as you can all the while picking up the rod waiting for that steady pull downwards signalling a fish is on.

Picture yourself at the rail of a gently rocking boat, leaning over the side, puking your guts out as your father and his drunken brothers drink beer and pretend to fish.

I hate boats. They ruined fishing for me and destroyed my gun collection.
