Except certain types like the Ruger MKI, II, III type that the upper/receiver is the actual serialized part that is required to go thru an FFL.The frame is legally considered to be a firearm. For all of the rest of the parts, it is OK to do.
.
The serialized receiver (or frame where all the doin's go) is typically considered the firearm by law.
Depends on the gunThe frame is legally considered to be a firearm. For all of the rest of the parts, it is OK to do.

Depends on the gun
A Sig,the trigger group is the firearm on one model.
Whatever part has the serial number on it is "the gun"
In the case of a hand gun, that part needs to be sent to a ffl
The part that accepts the magazine is the easiest way to remember which part is the registered partMany parts of the pistol can be shipped, as they are just "parts". The actual "pistol" is one particular part (or assembly of parts). I am not expert enough to tell you which part/assembly that is.
Which Sig is that?Depends on the gun

Assuming OP moving or visiting another state, the ATF has a few Q&As that are on this point:
Cheers.
- May a person who is relocating out-of-State move firearms with other household goods?
- May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity?
- May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
- May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by common or contract carrier?
Oh contrare, the slide on a glock is just a slideHold on.... EXCEPT when a firearm (Glock for example) has matching S/N's on parts like the barrel, slide, and frame.... legally the frame (for Glock) is the firearm.
This house is so confusing.... so many doors!

Thanks. I looked around and it appears they do that so the owner can switch calibers and the related frame.Sit pro? And the gun that replaced it
