I've resized and loaded 1000's of 54r slugs using a LEE tumble lube sizer. I did it in several steps with RCBS case lube. They were good enough to hit a 24" going at 525 yards with open sights. Bolt 308, a L1A1 FAL. Mosins and Finns. Even found a load listed for 7.62x39 for some 150 grain slugs.

Not true. I've resized plenty 35 call down to 355 or 357 for various projects related to heavy for caliber loads.
There was a time when I successfully resized .338's down to .330 for 8x56Rmm Austrian. Using the Lee push-through die with RCBS pad lube. One pass. The .338's had gilding material jackets, might be more of an issue with military having copper washed steel jackets.

Hope all is well or turns out well. Stay golden.
A big Fir cut through the house. LOL. It's bad real bad. Almost got me.
