I might have seen 308 observing, asking questions

My DQ was "leaving gun un-attended"
Was unloaded, in holster.
I put gun belt on a bench to go take a leak.

Fellow competitors were waiting to see my reaction
Some folks pitch a fit, throw stuff.
Some curse and threaten.
I asked "DQ for the stage or match?"
When told for the match I said "ok" and put my stuff in the rig.
Watched the rest of the match, helped clean-up afterwards.

I was with my little grandson. You should have said hi...lol

Disqualifications are all about safety. The basics ideas are that an unholstered gun is always pointed downrange, finger off the trigger until ready to fire, only one person has a gun uncased at a time, and that is under the supervision of the Range Officer.

Everyone works to make this a safe sport and people aren't shunned for making a mistake, but we don't want them shooting any more that day. Working on being safe is something we all do when planning how to shoot a particular stage.

Now, about that issue of missing. I've actually been shooting when the wind, just ever so slightly, moved the target and made it appear that I missed. It wasn't my fault - really.

.... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :D
