Kamala Harris is already being talked about as a replacement. Thank god this isn't 2010 and we have a majority in the Senate. I shudder to think of how different this country would be with her replacing Justice Scalia.

Our inalienable rights are not granted to us by the king, president or judges. I wish people would keep that in mind and allow it to come to the forefront of every response and discussion on this topic.

The world has has worked tirelessly to remove all consideration of the One who has granted all mankind with these rights from birth. Please don't forget that, and don't forget Him.

Many times in history we have (read what the Israelites went through)....and every time a blessed people went from prosperity to bondage and slavery, it was becuase they forgot the One who allows the floodgates of blessing and prosperity to flow, or dry up. Same as any parent whose child does what is right, or does what is wrong. The love and compassion are always there, but the good stuff cannot flow if the child is not honoring the parent, and doing the right thing.

This is all on each and everyone of us...read my tagline quote guys. It is history...don't forget it.

SCALIA QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Movement is not necessarily progress. More important than your obligation to follow your conscience, or at least prior to it, is your obligation to form your conscience correctly. Nobody — remember this — neither Hitler, nor Lenin, nor any despot you could name, ever came forward with a proposal that read, 'Now, let's create a really oppressive and evil society.' Hitler said, 'Let's take the means necessary to restore our national pride and civic order.' And Lenin said, 'Let's take the means necessary to assure a fair distribution of the goods of the world.'

"In short, it is your responsibility, men and women of the class of 2010, not just to be zealous in the pursuit of your ideals, but to be sure that your ideals are the right ones. That is perhaps the hardest part of being a good human being: Good intentions are not enough. Being a good person begins with being a wise person. Then, when you follow your conscience, will you be headed in the right direction."

—Excerpted from Justice Antonin Scalia's commencement address at Langley High School, in Virginia, where his granddaughter was graduating in June of 2010.

Vis a vis this issue, I was really glad to see Trump had a horrible night in the debates. I really hope that South Carolina voters see his horrible anger and narcissism and see that they cannot trust what sort of justice he would nominate. And I do NOT have a history of being anti-Trump. Scalia's death has turned me around on Trump.

Visceral dislike from the left for Justice Scalia; who won the debate?

While most of the nation was mourning yesterday's passing of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, reaction from some Seattle Times readers and remarks on Twitter reveal a dislike from the political left that was visceral.

ELECTIONS MATTER. There's one in November. Be there. Vote for whomever is running on the Republican ticket (regardless how it pains me to say that) because you'll have far better odds of filling other empty seats with pro-gun conservatives over the next four to eight years.
Cruz, Rubio, Trump, Bush, Kasich....
This is NOT the time to be tossing a vote on a no-chance 3rd party candidate. You will have one chance to make this right.
ELECTIONS MATTER.

This has been my take all along, vote for the republican candidate no matter what. A vote for a democlap law maker is a vote for a commie pure and simple. The majority party decides everything and that's where the appointments come from. If we don't vote enmass, we loose not only here in Oregon but the free world. 1939 Europe.

Dang it, that's pretty harsh, but painfully accurate.

We, as supporters of Constitutional Rights, now have an obligation to educate those fence sitters around us...

Help open their eyes, this will be an election that either reverses the course of history... Or sends us blindly into repeating the err's of 1939 Europe, just as you've said.

The infiltration of our government began at the end of WWII, and has quickened the pace over the years. Now, we even have a self proclaimed socialist running for president...

McArthur must be rolling over in his grave, not to mention the founding fathers...

We've just about come full circle in 240 years...

"We have given you a republic, if you can keep it." -- Ben Frankiln

Sorry Ben, but they finally gave up.
We couldn't manage to keep it.
Which is no surprise, considering all the references lately to: "Our Democracy."

Or you might use my strategy and register as a Dem so you can vote against Hillary. Sanders is not nearly as anti-gun as Hillary, and if we can eliminate her in the primaries we improve our situation greatly. Then in the general election you can still vote Republican.

The more likely nominee is Sri Srinivasan. He served as solicitor general under both Bush and Obama. He'd be a whole lot better than Harris, but still not acceptable to me.

Scalia quote. Polar opposite of whoever Obama has in mind as a replacement.

"This is a naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power; a claim fundamentally at odds with our system of government. Except as limited by a constitutional prohibition agreed to by the People, the States are free to adopt whatever laws they like, even those that offend the esteemed Justices' 'reasoned judgment.' A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy."

Here is a quote from Sonia Sotomayor picked by Obama.
I would hope that a wise latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life.

We are in a heap of trouble now. The Republicans will mouth off but exercise no real opposition to whoever Obama has in mind. Perhaps the first Transgender Justice?
Diversity is more important than strict Constitutional based decisions right?
