The overwhelming majority of anti-2A types are likely well-intentioned, but grossly misinformed, emotionally-driven (or straight up irrational) morons. Others simply don't like firearms or certain demographics associated with said ownership, but lack the intellectual honesty to admit it, so they instead hide behind one of the tired anti-RKBA slogans.

However, there are some who know exactly what they are doing. It is nothing new, after all; rulers don't like their serfs being able to defend themselves.

But not many since have. Thomas Jefferson would be one that did. Adams signed and supported the Sedition act (prohibiting criticism of the government), and Jefferson dumped it when he was elected.
Upon leaving office Truman declining offers of corporate positions at large salaries, stating...

You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people, and it's not for sale.
-Harry S Truman

What makes this quotation even more meaningful was the fact that Truman had very little money, He didn't own his own home, and his only income was a $ 13,507.72 a year Army pension. There was no presidential pension then, so forgoing the offer that has been customary for retired high office holders, was truly a great sacrifice.

Okay. Tell me who has socialism and a dictator these days?
Here is some info from an approved Marxist source: wiki socialism
Vladimir Lenin is quoted as saying that the goal of socialism is communism.
And to keep it 2A relevant:

Cuba
China
Venezuela
N. Korea
Russia
Cuba - communism
China -one socialist party run by a communist leader
Venezuela - authoritarian regime led by a socialist party
N. Korea - totalitarian dictatorship
Russia - republican form of government declared by constitution in 1993

Socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Just as some info thats not from Fox news 😂

I'm not saying the goverments of the past were not socialists. In fact hitler for example wanted germany to come first. He build roads, put people back to work and led Germany out of a depression....all things the previous president we had said or tried. Anyway, unfortunately we know how hitler lost his mind and what he did. So the question is, is it the form of government that turns bad or the people who run it get too powerhungy? Yall appreciate actual socialism more than you think.

This reads a lot like, "tHaTs nOT rEaL sOCiaLiSm!"

Socialism (in its absolute form) may have had its place when humans were hunter-gatherers living in tribes/clans etc. that consisted of a handful of families that were essentially related to each other. All collective efforts were to provide for and protect the tribe/clan from rival tribes/clans that wanted to take control of the other's resources. Socialism at that time may have been the difference between survival or death for the entire tribe/clan.

In the modern age, centralized collectivism has brought us some benefits such as: public lands, infrastructure/interstate highways, firefighters etc., but it's also brought us budget deficits, inflation(artificially controlled until the chickens come home to roost)...as well as infringement upon the rights of the individual; under the banner of: "It's for the greater good".

But who exactly gets to define this 'greater good'?

This is the principle most 'antis' thrive on. They in their minds believe that they know what's best for society.

Private firearm ownership is deemed as a public health crisis; an epidemic. The rights of the individual to be responsible for their own self-defense ought to be relinquished to the state. Any harm that may befall the individual is considered acceptable; if it is deemed to benefit the whole.

This is why you may hear many antis make statements that start out like these:

"Your right to firearm ownership affects our right to feel safe in our community."

"We only want to enact common-sense laws"

"My view of guns is simple. I hate guns and I cannot imagine why anyone would want to own one. If I had my way, guns for sport would be registered, and all other guns would be banned."

"We cannot let a minority of people—and that's what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people."

And then progress to these:

"The measures adopted to restore public order are: First of all, the elimination of the so-called subversive elements .... They were elements of disorder and subversion. On the morrow of each conflict I gave the categorical order to confiscate the largest possible number of weapons of every sort and kind. This confiscation, which continues with the utmost energy, has given satisfactory results."

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty."

"All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party."

Unfortunately, socialism is a disease of the mind of supposed intellectuals or those who seek power or to remain in power. Never ever go with the 'propaganda diatribe of the incumbent'! There should never be a 're-elected' politician, regardless of their public prognostications! The smokey backroom deals are the 'real' deal! And peasants are not invited. Notice the uptick in the 'warrior savior' in the current propaganda stream presented on TV, in movies and other media for the masses!

It's always sold as socialism until it fails, then it's declared that it wasn't really socialism. All socialism has ever done is to lower everybody's wealth to the lowest common denominator, except of course for the political class. Socialism/communism IS the latest iteration of slavery. It's just packaged to make you think you are trading freedom and self determination for a nirvana that won't get delivered and if it does, well, it's like buying something on Wayfair.

Yeah, capitalism has downsides but no other system has improved lives across the board nearly as much. It does it so effortlessly that we take it for granted. People like to poke fingers at the ultra wealthy it also produces and get jealous that they have things others don't

Read lots of posts condemning Bezos's spaceflight from my lefty friends. Not a one of them ever thinks about what happened to the money he spent and how many people like engineers, fabricators, factory workers, etc. were paid directly. Then think about all the things they bought with that money and how others benefited. Even the technology refinements from it will be used to improve lives,
