Upon leaving office Truman declining offers of corporate positions at large salaries, stating...But not many since have. Thomas Jefferson would be one that did. Adams signed and supported the Sedition act (prohibiting criticism of the government), and Jefferson dumped it when he was elected.

I'm not saying the goverments of the past were not socialists. In fact hitler for example wanted germany to come first. He build roads, put people back to work and led Germany out of a depression....all things the previous president we had said or tried. Anyway, unfortunately we know how hitler lost his mind and what he did. So the question is, is it the form of government that turns bad or the people who run it get too powerhungy? Yall appreciate actual socialism more than you think.
