Hear why 'Barack Obama supporters' need to make I-594 Washington state law.

Initiative battle heats as anti-gunners plan Thursday Bellevue program

Protect Our Gun Rights (POGR), the group pushing Initiative 591, last night issued a fund raising appeal in reaction to Monday evening’s “swanky fundraiser in Medina” for elitist backers of Initiative 594, while gun control backers announced a gathering Thursday evening at a Bellevue library designed to gin up support for the 15-page gun control measure.

Their release starts off with the story of one of their members, who was shot in the Seattle Jewish Federation shooting:

***** GUEST SPEAKER: CHERYL STUMBO***** On July 28, 2006, Naveed Afzal Haq shot six (6) women, one fatally, at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in the Belltown area of Seattle. Haq is reported to have forced his way through the building's security door armed with two semi-automatic pistols (a Smith & Wesson .45-caliber handgun and a .40-caliber handgun), a knife, and extra ammunition. Cheryl Stumbo, the Federation's director of marketing and communications, was shot in the abdomen and critically wounded.

Except that the Jewish Federation shooter passed every background check and purchased his guns legally, so - other than the fact that their director was shot, which obviously makes her an expert on firearms policy - what does it have to do at all with their proposed initiative?

Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske alleged that the suspect, Naveed Afzal Haq, had selected his target by researching "something Jewish" on the Internet. Haq is said to have legally purchased two semiautomatic handguns in Tri-Cities area stores, receiving the weapons on July 27, 2006, after the mandatory waiting period had expired. Haq allegedly received a traffic ticket on the way to the shooting, but did nothing to arouse the officer's suspicions.[3]

Maybe someone should show up at the meeting and ask them to explain exactly how their UBC bill would have stopped him?

Nah... They will probably call the police on you.

It's a PUBLIC library..

It sure is, but don't put it beyond these groups to accuse you of harassment, or call the police and state that there is an angry person there who "might be carrying a gun."
