No, not a nation of cowards. A nation indoctrinated and threatened.

It's hard enough to take on a big brute, but then to be subject to the state's gentle ministrations, and maybe a civil lawsuit by his survivors? After a while the incentives all point in the direction of walking away.

In the old West this brute would have been strung up in short order. We need to get back to that. We need to get away from the notion that the authorities take care of us and keep us in line. No, they just make life easier for thugs. They don't give a rat's patoot about us.

So, they did do a good job but this did not make headlines???? !!!

Actually this made it to FOX news in New York. The funny part was the the comments from his friends and family on the local radio stations:
"He is not a monster, he would never hurt anybody"
"He had a problem with drugs but is WORKING ON GETTING HIS LIFE BACK TOGETHER"
And several others similar IE. guy with drug problems trying to turn his life around etc. but is a 'nice guy' and 'wouldn't hurt anybody'.
