In a "police state" only the police and military have guns. He supports this for the same reason many German generals supported Hitler and Russian generals supported Stalin. They are hoping to stay in the good side of their tyrant. By supporting a murdering tyrant, they insure their wealth, safety and security at YOUR expense.

I've learned that in the military, the 'best and brightest' are typically driven out.

The military wants people who are smart enough to do as they are told but not smart enough to think for themselves.

After the rank of Captain, promotions are based more on political events in the military and ability to stay out of allegations/trouble than merit. I know a ton of morons with rank. And sadly a lot of anti-gun leaders in the enlisted corps and the officer corps.

The military is a strangely anti-gun and pro-control organization. It strongly discourages private gun ownership through anti-gun policies of registration, locking guns up, and even taking guns away from some Soldiers without due process.
