Would this be considered legal on an AR- Pistol? What classifies a "vertical grip" over this grip which only has a 86* degree angle? Thanks for the help.

That's a vertical grip as stated in the item description. I think people use the Angled foregrips like the Magpul AFG to skirt regulation but I don't keep up on the AR pistol law personally.

I don't know the answer and I doubt atf will say definitively. As far as I know magpul angled foregrip and perhaps some other have letters from atf saying that specific angled foregrip is ok. Then peopel took that to mean all angled foregrips are ok. But what is the definition of angled? 89 degrees? 45 degrees? Does anyone actually know for items that don't have a atf letter saying it's ok? I mean bubblegum, they are still saying braces are illegal as of last week or whenever it was.

Better yet look to their definition of a vertical grip. It must be perpendicular to the bore, thus 90 degrees. So if we combine the 2 one could make the argument that 89 degrees is technically not a vertical grip.

Hopefully Brandon Herrera gets appointed as director. Wouldn't hold my breath though his past actions hasn't instilled much confidence in Trump and his "support" of the 2a
Trump has been open to outsiders (meaning outside typical political channels) for cabinet posts etc so far. But seems to me that ALL have been personal chronies that have shown personal loyalty etc to him in the past. So he may be too much of an outsider maybe.

What is the overall length of the AR pistol? I'm sure some folks on here will correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC of the OAL is greater than 26", I believe they are considered a "firearm" instead of a "pistol" and therefore OK to put a VFG on. Or something like that. Granted, that might not stop LE from making an issue of it anyway, but... *shrug*

It's considered a firearm if it is over 26-ish inches and has a second grip position (designed to be fired with two hands but no stock). It's still a pistol no matter how long it is, if it doesn't have a stock and is designed to be fired with one hand.

Only do one crime at a time and it won't be an issue, but they lost that argument just like all the others . . .

Some good reading. Don't expect no cops to know the difference between a firearm/pistol/sbr.

I don't think I would count on the justice system agreeing that 4 degrees of angle is enough to keep me out of a concrete box for up to 10 years. Especially given I once saw a ruling that declared an empty casing and a fired bullet were ruled as "ammunition."

Technically, no grip is ever "vertical" if you measure to enough significant figures.
