No. For starters lets talk about Century Arms. The only AKs they themselves make are the RAS47, C39V2, and the American Draco. Those I would urge you to avoid, as they don’t offer you anything for the dollar.

They IMPORT the following: Wasr-10 (and they use weak wood for 922r), the Romanian Draco, and NPAP (but no longer on their site so maybe no longer). The wasr-10 is the best bang for the buck now. The wasr-10/63 was built by Cugir with military parts on a new receiver with new barrel, outside of Cugir’s own QC (canted sights), most of the issues was from CAI making the magwells too wide as AKs are imported with single stack magwells.

Arsenal currently imports Bulgarian AKs, atm mostly just 7.62x39 and 5.56. They do get canted sights too, but they’re held in higher regard. Are they the best bang for the buck? IMHO, not for 7.62x39 but hell they’re worth it regardless.

Then you have Riley Defense and PSA, making American made AKs... They’re new so who knows the long term with them. Given I.O and CAI’s mess, its better to wait and see.

Course there’s the older ones, but outside of collectors there isn’t much...

Now then, not hard to see which ones to get. :D

    AK's are complicated. I'll stick with AR's.

Not really. We’re pretty much left with Arsenal and Wasrs.

I’d like the Zastava M76 to be brought back.

Open Ordinance, has been improving their AK's quite a bit in my opinion.
Its hard to be a real one, but they changed allot of stuff the last few years and
appear to be making some pretty good quality stuff.

Boboclown, you seem pretty knowledgeable regarding AKs. Let me know if this should be a new thread, but what are your thoughts on custom shops such as Rifle Dynamics shortening the barrel and installing Bolton gas blocks, etc.?

Better off getting a draco and sbring it. Or an arsenal cr.

That way you’d already have the gas block sight. As for Rifle Dynamics, some like em some don’t.

"An AK is an AK?" Okay. That's pretty much what I thought when I decided...."I got me an AR, NOW I need an AK". I had little info, but I'm the kinda guy that doesn't get the most expensive, or the least expensive. I was watching Atlantic firearms and looking at all the AKs. I finally found one that looked good to me, and bought it. I'm not even sure what you would call it? I remember it's made from an original polish parts kit, "With just enough parts to make it legal in the US". LOL Anyway, it's been flawless through close to 300 rounds and I can hit a 10" gong with it at 100 yard every shot if I do my job. The nickle plating on the bolt carrier has flaked off where it hits the hammer to reset it, but that's all that's flaky with it. It has an 11 in a circle with the date of 1968 beside it, and Morrissey Inc on the bottom of the receiver so I guess that means that was made in the US.

I'm guessing it is one of these, I've had it for about three years now, I think.
    POLISH-AK47 RIFLE

Sounds like I could have ended up getting a piece O' crap AK?
