What do you load your 1911 officers with for self defense ammo?
I am still looking for a good load, found some 185 silvertips the other day. They function fine, but seem a little light when I sent them throught the chrono at 778 fps, 248 lb/ft.
For actual defense, you will want your mag loaded with Factory ammo, Silvertips, Hydro shock, XTP's, Corbon, or whatever defensive load you really like.. for practice, reload 230gr RN, or 185's JHP. It all works when you hit the target..
Looks like I will be using 185 JHP for defense, as I have just bought 1000 185 JHP bullets to reload for a training round, and my Kimber UC likes 185 JHP.
Now I will just build my reloads to match the factory defense loads, and I will be all set.
