MILTON-FREEWATER – Students and staff at Pleasant View Alternative School were sent home Wednesday after a custodian found the front door had a bullet hole in it and a bullet was found lodged inside a rear door down the hall.

No one was in the building when the incident occurred, and there were no injuries.

A custodian arrived at the school at around 5:30 a.m. and found the bullet hole in the front door of the building. The bullet apparently ricocheted off of a plexi-glass bulletin board in the hallway, and then lodged itself in the building’s rear door, according to the school district.

Pleasant View Principal Suzy Mayes said the incident had to have occurred overnight because she left the school at approximately 7:30 p.m. and did not notice anything amiss.

The school is working with Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, who is reviewing security camera footage of the incident.

Pleasant View administrators have cancelled classes for students for the remainder of the week. Pleasant View students do not have school on Fridays and Monday is a holiday.

Whatever happened to just pulling the fire alarm?
