OBAMA ADMINISTRATION SIGNS UN ANTI-GUN TREATY

As you know, today the Obama administration signed onto the anti-gun “UN Small Arms Treaty.”

Every knowledgeable pro-gun source has declared this is a blatant attack on our rights and sovereignty.

Republicans in the Senate have vowed that this treaty will not be ratified, but as we have seen, the Obama machine is more than happy to ignore the law and the will of the people to implement its agenda. This is certainly a dangerous development.

Oregon has two of the most anti-gun Senators in the country. No doubt they are eager to move forward with this liberty crushing “treaty.”

Still they need to hear from you. Please contact Wyden and Merkley and demand that they vote against any ratification of the UN Small Arms Treaty.

    Their web form addresses follow:

Contact | U.S. Senator Ron Wyden

    And From GOA

    logo Gun Owners of America

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    You are Under Attack!
“Rest assured, if you refuse to take a stand against defunding the anti-gun ObamaCare law, then GOA will rename ObamaCare in your state as ‘______-Care,’ just put your name in the blank.” -- GOA’s Larry Pratt and Tim Macy to US Senators (Sept. 24, 2013)

UPDATE: The phones are ringing off the hook in the U.S. Senate in opposition to funding ObamaCare as part of the Continuing Resolution. Keep up the good work!

ATT Treaty to attack our rights. Today, Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to sign the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). Thankfully, GOA members have been receiving their latest GOA snail mail report on this treaty over the past week.

It is vitally important that you send the postcards which are included to your two U.S. Senators. We need to dump thousands of postcards and letters on their desks so they know that the American people do NOT want this treaty ratified!

Please go here to start receiving GOA’s in-depth reports and newsletters if you are not already receiving them.

Anti-gun ObamaCare to threaten our rights. GOA yesterday told U.S. Senators that GOA will be rating the “cloture” (or filibuster) vote on ObamaCare.

You can click here to read the letter, which lays out many of the anti-gun problems with the ObamaCare law.

    http://cqrcengage.com/gunowners/app/thru?ep=AAAAC2Flc0NpcGhlcjAxfw6HMYeggbm69w4GigQLBhU7fLcIUvG-RB_KseOW-q4cj1PMHl8UByGQ6z6w-BxtJFDAvzJ1e6O729lfd7_AqP-3IAnaXEf4G9qlkPWxPyJiKVla8sFt6nm1IA2psgiVH_NtjU6RIHTp15jGw763YeZb61Cc4xn7YrgXocHdI90

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) took to the Senate floor yesterday and spoke for several hours in opposition to the anti-gun ObamaCare law. Several Republican Senators aided him, including Mike Lee of Utah, David Vitter of Louisiana and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Citizens in these states should thank these Senators for standing strong!

ACTION: Make sure you have called your Senators at 202-224-3121 and have urged them to support Cruz and Lee’s efforts to defund ObamaCare. Likewise, ask your Senators to oppose any effort by Harry Reid to reinsert funding for ObamaCare into the Continuing Resolution. The first vote of many may occur today.

If you like to speak “technaleeze,” you will want to ask your Senator to vote “NO” on cloture. A YES vote on cloture is a vote to end debate and pass the Continuing Resolution the way Harry Reid wants it. (That will allow him to reinsert funding for ObamaCare.) So tell your Senators to vote NO on cloture.

ACTION for certain states: If you live in a state where your Senators are committed socialists -- and who will vote for ObamaCare every chance they get -- you might want to help buck up wavering Senators in other states. So what follows is such a list.

Republican Senators who oppose the Cruz-Lee effort:

Kelly Ayotte NH John Boozman AR
Richard Burr NC Tom Coburn OK
John Cornyn TX Lindsey Graham SC
Mark Kirk IL John McCain AZ
Mitch McConnell KY Roger Wicker MS

Republican Senators whose position is unknown:

Lamar Alexander TN John Barraso WY
Roy Blunt MO Saxby Chambliss GA
Dan Coats IN Thad Cochran MS
Susan Collins ME Bob Corker TN
Jeff Flake AZ Orrin Hatch UT
Dean Heller NV John Hoeven ND
John Isakson GA Mike Johanns NE
Ron Johnson WI Jerry Moran KS
Lisa Murkowski AK Rob Portman OH
Tim Scott SC Jeff Sessions AL
Richard Shelby AL Pat Toomey PA

    Down with the tyrants.
This treasonous act (among the others) will not go unacknowledged.
This is a direct attack on our constitutional rights. No wiggle room this time.
Our state senators among others will hear our voices and know this will not stand.

I just fired emails to the two clowns (senators) that are supposed to represent me.
I reminded Merkley that he is up for re-election next year.

Question: Do phone calls carry more weight than emails?

While I don't agree with our elected government signing treaties which their people disagree with. I also don't like groups using things like as red hearings to strike up F.U.D. I've reviewed a bit of the documents out there on this treaty, and it seems like basically a PR stunt which doesn't actually do anything or actually require anything of the signers.

For example some of the research shows things like this, Russia could still give weapons to the Syrian government because they feel the rebels are trying to overthrow the correct government. The US could give weapons Syrian Freedom Fighters because we feel the Syrian government is despotic. Both would be 'allowed' under the Treaty.

Has anyone else reviewed it beyond the rhetoric and been able to dissolve fact from nuance?

Cus the ones the government uses can control these drone thingy's that blow everything to hell. I can tell you one thing, I'm gonna ask for my money back dag nab it.

I never said I was or wasn't more knowledgeable than the NRA, GOA or OFF. I stated that I dislike when groups use things they don't actually research deeply as a red hearing to strike up F.U.D. Sometimes, those groups just spread a message which is more speculation than fact. Just because I happen to be a member of an organization, does not mean I will blindly follow them down a path. I pose that everyone should constantly be questioning those groups they are members associated with. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a place you didn't want to end up.

The OFF points to the GOA as the reference point for this particular topic, specifically Analysis - Gun Owners of America

This critique is a very 'worst case' subjective review of the Treaty. If taken at face value, I would (and have) strongly oppose such a bill. But if this is another whip up the fear campaign for something that basically is meaningless and in the long run will have no effect either, I would rather put additional effort somewhere else. The wording is very broad. Perhaps, the question I should have asked is how does this compare to other treaties the US has signed? How have we actually followed those other treaties in the past?

Trying to determine fact from fiction.

Are you serious? You don't know what the UN's Small Arm treaty means for us? It's been hanging out there for ever and is DOA in the Senate as far as ratification. Before questioning those that are fighting for your rights, OFF does not use red here he to raise money- in fact we rarely ask for money- just action- PAY ATTENTION. This treaty made news last summer.

Pay attention? Hmm. This treaty has been around since 2009, if not sooner, so the 'news' last summer was a little late. It was dropped by Obama because he knew it would impact his election possibilities. So, I've been paying attention. Been tracking it for a long while, and was looking for objective commentary. I'm not seeing any here, will continue to dig.

You are looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear.
There is no good that can come from this, period.
If it stays offshore, fine, but if the UN tries to impose its will here, it will be fought with more ferocity that anything that has ever happened in the Middle East.

Actually the point of an objective commentary is to try to find an impartial review of something without predisposed feelings or objectives. My gut is this is a ridiculously stupid bill that at best will screw with already messed up international arms laws and mostly mess with global hunters while driving up international prices on legal and the illegal arms trade. At worst, it will be used to do the previous and as a lever for various groups to increase the anti-american rhetoric about how American's are gun loving crazy people who need to be stopped. Then used by various US based anti-gun groups as tool to beat people over the head with. IE Not good.

Of course, none of this will stop the the large American (and Multi-National) arms groups from not selling weapons on mass to 3rd world despots. Which is what the 'good intentions' are with the treaty.

Why then if this is my thought of how it will be used, well I like to actually find impartial reviews of things as well as the other aspects. It is called being informed and educated on topics. Searching for as close to the truth about something as possible. If you just accept everything being told, then you are sheeple. Don't be sheeple.

The reason it made the news last summer was because there was a very real possibility that Obama would sign it. And though it has been around since 2009 it hadn't been up for a vote, in fact they were still working on the language. NOTHING positive for US Citizens will come from the UN. As for your pursuit for objective commentary on a UN Small Arms Treaty from a bunch of inter-nationalists-good luck.

Better yet why don't you read the treaty and provide the objective commentary? Set aside your preconceived notions about what you think this Treaty will do and tell us what it is.

English starts on Page 21: THE ARMS TRADE TREATY

Once you've read the language of the treaty put it in context of the UN and who is helped/harmed by this and previous treaties. And remember Nevil Chamberlin had a signed document from Hitler that Germany wouldn't invade Poland a few months later Poland fell without a fight.

My usual position on candidates is that if they have the word "Incumbent" then I will vote against them.
So that was my position on Ron Wyden. However, for his efforts on privacy and accountability he now has earned my vote. It is his to lose.

I will contact him about the treaty.

I encourage you to contact your representatives, regularly, as well.

Wyden? Obviously you aren't a 2nd Amendment issue voter. The good thing is you have 4 years to change your mind.

I have to be honest, I'm not a member or contributor of OFF...yet. I like them, and I check out their website often. I have a letter that I forward to these posers in our state senate and to our congress people from time to time and did again just a few weeks back after they took this cowardly way out and signed this freedom-crushing treaty.

On serious issues, I usually do both.
All you generally get is some aid that says they will pass the message, or the machine, but call anyway.
    Fills their message box.
After so many emails and calls, I think their osh.ite.ometer goes off and they actually read a few, but then do what they want anyway.

I work for OFF, membership services, setting up a table at gun shows and events. I wish more people would take a moment and just sign up for the alerts. Cost is free and the only thing you are out is time, the time it takes to contact your legislators. We beat back 4 Bills I the Senate and a couple in the House this year. Let's push through some good Pro-2A laws or repeal some of the bad ones on the books already.
