Air rifle field target matches will be held during the summer months at both Clark Rifles in Brush Prairie and Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club in University Place. These matches will generally follow AAFTA rules. For more information on the sport of Field Target: http://www.aafta.org.
Shooters must use air rifles with telescopic sights that generate less than 20ft/lbs of energy. 177caliber rifles are the norm but 22caliber may be used. The course of fire will include multiple shooting lanes with 2 to 3 resettable targets on each lane. Targets range between 10 and 50 yards. The match will consist of between 42 and 72 shots with one point given for each target knocked down. Non-club members and spectators are welcome. Outdoor matches are typically scheduled from April through August with indoor matches scheduled at the Capitol City Rifle and Pistol Club during the winter months.
