More questions.
  1. For the front sling swivel. Would you do a QD swivel, or a fixed swivel?
    1. Fixed: https://magpul.com/m-lok-gi-sling-swivel.html?mp_global_color=118
    2. QD: https://magpul.com/qd-sling-swivel.html?mp_global_color=118
  2. For competition sling hold, would you mount front sling on:
    1. Side of mlok rail
    2. Bottom of mlok rail
I'm thinking fixed swivel as I just feel it would be stronger in the long term, less likely to drop the rifle.

Thanks for any input.
I don't believe QDs are allowed in Service Rifle.
To sling up properly it should be on the bottom.

Strongly suggest reading the rules before going any further in your build.
NRA High-Power Rules
YouTube - Service Rifle Sling Usage

You can shoot most any AR-15 for the upcoming High Power clinics at DRRC and Estacada. But for approved matches the rifle must be legal.

For the AR15 I like the USGI web sling and for the Garand I like the 1907 leather sling. Fixed swivel always.

Like others have said if you get a leather sling, don't get the cheapest one out there. A good sling is worth the money.

You might want to look at the 1907 military slings made by AE Nelson Leather down in Scio, Oregon. Family run business, superb craftsmanship
top quality leather. Been buying slings from they for many years, never been disappointed. www.nelsonleather.com. Don't buy cheap crap, it never pays in the long run.
Thank you for the tip will look into ordering a couple this summer
