My daughter just got her first AR pistol with an SBA3 adjustable brace. I have been a fan of the KAK Shockwave fixed braces on my AR pistols. Have to say, I really like the SB. I also really like side folders, thanks to my scorpion pistol. Very compact package.
So.....for my AR, which do I do, change out to a SB adjustable OR get a side folding adapter?
Why do you like one over the other?

If it's your daughters pistol, this should be a question for her...

I've owned and used most all of the pistol braces on the market,
And my favorites are the SBPDW, Tailhook, and SBA3...
In that order.

SBA3 is superior to the KAK SW...
There is far more real estate on the back of the SBA3 for "incidental shoulder contact" and it's much easier to adjust..

Add the Law folder if you have $200 burning a hole, but I'd keep the SBA3.

Naw this ones for me ;). I see I didn't make that clear in my post.
I was skeptical about adjustable braces and folders on an AR. The quality and look of the SB adjustable vs the original slide on moved me. But a folder is intriguing, just don't know all the possible down sides.

I have the TH Mod2 on mine, after changing from the KAK.
Much better compared to the former.

The LT Folder was mounted on several configurations.
I did not like it due to the added weight, and LOP.

Depending on use/need, other folding adapters are available.

if you drop your folder and you get dirt in the mechanism and you cant fold it closed you should know 6 good friends.

better to just leave it how it is less issues to ever have to worry about

Ordered a Tailhook mod2
Let ya know what I think, but I'm sure I'm gonna like it.
That's what I got on my favorite gun in the world...
My 300 BO pistol I call Scarlett...

I also run a LAW folder, only because I take her everywhere.
when folded she fits in my get home bag... only reason I can think of to have a folder...
I also put a foam cheek pad on the Mod2 for comfort...
The pad came with a hi-point carbine of all things..
All Gucci brands and over 2g into her, and a hipoint cheek pad:p

Have been wondering about this for the last month or so. I have a .300BLK SBR. I have been wanting to build a backpack setup. Folders can be the shortest, but may not be operational unless the stock/brace is deployed. I have been looking at uppers that do not need a buffer tube assembly to work, like SIG and others.
I would prefer to stay with blackout as opposed to a PCC setup.

I'm not a huge fan of the folding adapters. Definitely makes packing and storing easier. I'm just not the biggest fan of it not being functional when folded. If I were to use one it would be on a non buffer recoiling system. Like a dedicated 22 or a upper like the Brownells one that doesn't require a buffer and buffer tube.

If your a fan of the KAK check out their 2.0 adjustable model.
