I wonder if the other SEAL movie that's in the works will get better critical reviews here and in the press.

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has called for an investigation into reports that the Obama administration is granting Sony Pictures and director Kathryn Bigelow “high-level access” for a film about the Navy SEAL operation which killed Osama Bin Laden. The movie is scheduled for release one month before the 2012 presidential election.

You just know it'll be a sure bet for multiple Oscars and Golden Globes.

LOL this is brilliant. You flat out declare you are glad the US government "kicks a**" all over the world, hence clarifying your worldview for all to see, and yet you make tons of assumptions about my supposed affiliations, be it OWS, socialist or communist (i.e. ash heap of history), all from the fact that I dislike government warmongering propaganda and government murder, which of course has nothing to do with any of those groups whatsoever.

Like I said before, you can watch whatever movie you like. If you want to explain how this movie isn't propaganda, feel free to do so, instead of HURR DURR YOU ARE A SOCIALIST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THE SEALS.

Since you have not seen the movie, we all have to believe that you believe that there is never a proper time to use military force. You are ASSuming that the poor poor victims of the SEALS in this movie are innocent and down trodden cannon fodder. While I have yet to see it, what I have heard of it is that the bad guys in the movie get whats coming to them. Are you against that? If the SEALS took off their uniforms and rendered the bad guys room temperature as Joe Sixpack would that be ok with you?

Short review: Saw it last weekend, loved it. Fireballs, shooting, realistic military fighting scenes.

Long review: It can feel rather stereotypical most of the time, regarding the roles of good guys and bad guys. I honestly didn't mind, I don't care if zero Oscars are awarded for the actors in this movie.

The primary reason I went to see it? Guns, shooting, action.

I wish someone would make a movie about the battle for Takur Ghar. SEAL's, Rangers, airpower, very compelling story. The Cliff's notes version can be read in the book Robert's Ridge but the full story that helps really tells the story of the larger battle was by Sean Naylor called Not a Good Day to Die.

In my mind in order to tell the story right it would be a 3+ hour movie but if the movie stayed true to the real story it would be packed full of action.

LOL @ insulting political views by the way, I guess to someone who actually believes since the bad guys in the movies "deserve it", therefore all the people murdered by the US government in real life also "deserve it", the mere act of pointing out the disconnect would be perceived as an insult.

I love the premise of this movie.
How can you go wrong eliminating bad guys? And on top of that you get a little insight into the world of the Navy SEAL.
Nothing like mixing film and patriotism. I think that people who are patriotic will especially like it.
I like how it depicts the destruction of those who exist for the simple purpose to destroy our way of life.
Kinda like islamo fascists would give their own lives just for the chance to cut the heads off our children.
The USA rocks (present leadership excluded) and is a bright shining light on a hill for freedom loving peoples everywhere.
Two thumbs up for the flic.

This movie was awesome! I normally will not go to a movie and pay a premium to see a movie in theaters unless it's a hot movie, with big stars.
If you pay attention to the acting it's obvious they're not actors, BUT you will have goosebumps at how realistic it is, and it reminds you to RESPECT and PRAY for our soldiers everyday...
That alone means a lot to me.
Highly recommend this movie.

How is a fictional movie that is about 1:45 long and follows a story line from all over the planet suppossed to "accurately depict events in Afghanistan"?????? 10 plus years of involvment in Afghanistan and you want it boiled down to a buck forty-five?????? This is a movie you love or hate. I saw it today and I thought it was the best show I have seen in several years. Sure wasn't the acting. Sure wasn't because a lot of skin was exposed. Sure wasn't because it was full of Hollywood phonies. That movie made me feel proud that we still can produce some real warriors.

There is so much opinion bashing in this thread. I don't know about you guys, but I was raised to believe that everyone in America was entitled to their own opinion. Just because somebody doesn't share the same opinion as the "norm" doesn't make them a socialist, a marxist, or a communist, it makes them a unique individual.
