LOL. Top Gun was a Hollywood flick produced with assistance from the US Navy, not directly produced by the US government. Furthermore, Top Gun neither glorified state-sanctioned violence, nor was it grossly jingoistic, and most importantly, the producers did not try in any way to claim it represented real life events.

It might be entertaining in the same way Rambo 4 was, but at the end of the day, it is a grotesque piece of government propaganda. At least have the honesty to admit that.

I am glad my country kicks *** and the more bubblegums asses it kicks the better. If the government wants to produce a movie demonstrating the hard work and sacrifice of a certain group of warriors then I am way fine with that. They spend our money in far worse ways.

Dang Dman, You sure have strong feelings about a movie that you haven't seen.

I've seen the Hollywood movie about how the US Military/Rogue CIA/Evil Corporations/Politicians murder the poor little transgender bunnies who are just trying to raise their sick babies in peace about a thousand times. No propaganda there right? Anybody Pro-American = evil, anybody Anti-American = good. Seen it. Bored by it. Haven't been to a theater since Pulp Fiction. Hollywood despises us and I feel the same about them.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie that views the military from a different perspective. You know, every decade or so.

LOL this is brilliant. You flat out declare you are glad the US government "kicks a**" all over the world, hence clarifying your worldview for all to see, and yet you make tons of assumptions about my supposed affiliations, be it OWS, socialist or communist (i.e. ash heap of history), all from the fact that I dislike government warmongering propaganda and government murder, which of course has nothing to do with any of those groups whatsoever.

How isn't it propaganda? I'll take a crack at this one:
1: It's not a documentary, it's a fictional movie based on real world events and plausibility. By your definition both the Ben Affleck movie"Pearl Harbor", and the Josh Hartnett film "Blackhawk Down" are historical documentaries about America's "governmental warmongering propaganda"

2: It's a FICTIONAL FREAKING MOVIE, MADE WITH A SMALL BUDGET, BY HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS NOT THE U.S. GOVERNMENT The movie was directed by 2 former stuntmen and acted out by a combination of actors and real Navy Seals- this does not make it propaganda any more than "Full Metal Jacket" which also featured a number of actors, and a real-life Marine drill instructor

3: By your definition- ANY movie, featuring the modern American military is "governmental warmongering propaganda"

4: I've played an awful lot of the "Call of Duty"games, and they feature both the special forces of the USA, and UK- is this also "governmental warmongering propaganda"?

Time to shake yourself and join the rest of us in the land of reality. The movie exists to entertain and make money- as nearly all movies are. It's lovely that without seeing it, you are so happy to judge this particular book by it's cover. Fortunately there's an easy solution for you- don't see it. I happen to think Howard Stern is a douchebag, so you know what I do? I don't listen to his radio show, and I accept there are some that find it entertaining, no matter how distasteful I find it to be

I saw it. Best action scenes I have seen in a long time. Stiff acting but I didn't care. It actually seemed real because there was no theatrics or hero mentality. It also reminded me why I have zero desire to be in a gun fight.

I really want to drive one of those boats.
