Just got back from watching it. AWESOME! Went w/ my Dad and my 10 y/o son Josh. He is pumped. I don't have much to criticize, hollywood didn't screw it up too bad. Other than that they changed mags and the whole ball of wax just like they should. SEALs are the elite. I'm not just saying that because I'm a Navy guy. I watched BUDs while stationed on Coronado and it's hard.

The movie has had good reviews. I didn't realize it was also a good family show.

Poor reviews actually Act of Valor - Rotten Tomatoes There is a reason ACTORS should be in movies.

"The bad guys, who specialize in funny beards, funny accents, and shaved heads, would feel right at home in an Austin Powers movie." - top reviewer

Hollywood and the libs are not going to like a movie that promotes the military, good or bad. In the 80's a little movie that promoted the US Navy aviation was said to be the worst acting, terrible movie with great effects but lacked plot came out. Top Gun.......Need a say more, it is an epic movie that is still a favorite.
I am sure Act of Valor is great, esp to ex military folks like myself. I am sure I will find a lot of cinimatics in it, for I worked with the teams when I was in the Navy.

Top Gun had top actors. Word from the critics is these fellows couldn't out-act Quentin Tarantino. To each their own I guess but for $8-9 bucks, no thanks. Plus the stereotypes would be nauseating.

For free on HBO maybe, but not to drive to a theater and pay good money.

I just read your rotton tomatoes thing and it was blessed by everyone saying it was a great movie! I don't understand, plus i learned a long time ago not to listen to critics, critics are not my voice. I have went and seen terrible movies that critics said was great (Slum dog millionaire) and I am seen some pretty awesome ones that was rated terrible

I am glad that I have never paid much heed to professional movie reviewers over the years. I would of missed some entertaining films.

Just got home from watching this movie. Packed full of realistic action. Awesome cinematography. The story line is a no frills cut to the chase plot. A bit more character development would've been great and there would've been time as it's a fairly short movie at about 1:45. Then again, I didn't go to this expecting an Oscar winning performance. That would be like expecting plot in a porn movie.

A couple of things I noted: 1) the use of red lasers with NOD's. Was that a bit of Hollywood or is that a common practice? 2) Why aren't suppressors used more? 3) frags and LAW explosions seemed a bit more "fire ball" and seemed more Hollywoodish especially in a movie where a lot of the shooting sequences were live fire.

All in all I really liked it for what it was and will buy the DVD when it comes out.

I will probably see it twice. Just to make up for those who cant deal with the reality that some peoples ideology motivates them to want to exterminate us.

Are you talking about the neocon war pigs? Because they're the ones most likely to get us all killed.

Ya right, check out Small Arms Range 19 sometime if you're at Bragg if you want to know where the true Elite of the military are.

I might add that you for some reason felt the need to come in here and crap on this movie thread with your preschool ideology.
Not sure why that is other than insecurity.
    Anyway, have a good one.

My wife and I truly enjoyed the film. I agree with all the reviewers when they say that it's painfully obvious the main characters are not actors by trade- they're delivery of lines is very flat and somewhat forced. That being said, the poor dramatic acting is far overshadowed by brilliant cinematography, action sequences, and other aspects of that nature that just aren't accurately reproduced by actors or stunt men. I'll take authenticity over Charlie Sheen any day- this was a great movie, that will not receive critical acclaim simply because it doesn't have any big name people in it. The plot is fairly simple, and certainly plausible. To dismiss it as bad out of hand without seeing it would be a mistake. I may see it again in the theater, and certainly will purchase it when it's out on video.

Jesus H Christ man, can you leave politics out of it for one freakin second? Sheesh, I kind of agree with you but come off of it for a bit, go have a cold beer! Its sunny outside, go for a drive with the top down, anything to bring the BP down a few points. Cripes!

Sorry, but this "film" cannot be discussed without mentioning the propaganda angle, since it started life as a recruitment ad and was turned into a full length feature with government funding.

Done with this topic now, back to work.
