But that isn't something that changed. These cities, as far as I know, have all been havens for that party for years and decades.
They have which is why I have long said its some kind of mental illness with a lot of these people. They literally do the same thing over and over with their voting. Then really expect a different outcome. The people they put in charge make a huge mess. Then run for election on the promise to clean up the mess, that they made:confused:
When that does not work they blame the mess they made, on people who are not in power there and have nothing to do with it, and the voters buy it and vote for them again. :s0054:

I'm stuck in L.A. for a couple more days. Feels like a scene out of the movie Purge, when i watch the local news. I don't go out wandering at night, very often. Am in a hotel thats housing homeless in some of the rooms, I don't care if its stereotyping, the homeless in the hotel are causing alot of problems, drug dealing. late night parties, coming and going at all hours of the night.etc. etc. gonna be glad when i get out of here.

Folks if you really want change, vote for candidates that represent the other major party…. You might be pleasantly surprised at how things change. Remember, elections have consequences…
The problem is, no one from the "Other" party runs for these positions. Who are you supposed to vote for then? In potland we HAD to vote for tod whalen! A vote for anyone beside that feckless fart bag wheeler may have ended up with the much more destructive and toxic sarrah ianarone as mayor.
Less that a 20,000 difference in the two.
Wheeler received 46% of the vote with 163,009 votes. Iannarone finished second with 143,631 votes (41%) and 13% of voters wrote in a candidate.

How about that recall feckless tod? when the democraps have justdges that are full retard democrap you end up with things like this...

excerpt:
As a final attempt to ensure that every Portlander who wanted to sign the recall petition would be able to have that chance, the recall Ted Wheeler campaign initiated a suit in federal court, alleging that the 90 day restriction violated our constitutional right to petition for redress while in a pandemic. The reality is that signature gathering—with ink on paper signatures—is incompatible with a pandemic. Due to the difficulty of collecting signatures in person during a pandemic, other states and municipalities have shown flexibility on signature gathering requirements. The City Auditor of Portland chose not to allow similar flexibility with signature gathering for the people of Portland.

So who the hell are we supposed to vote for now?

Homicides are the easist indicator of an uptick in crime because they get the most coverage and attention but you can bet all crime is way up nationwide
Can't speak for nationwide, but the Philadelphia's elected DA has actually proclaimed that there is no uptick in criminal violence in Philadelphia. That's a pretty surprising thing to say, given Philly's record-breaking homicide tally.

Well, explains the DA, it's because all other violent crimes (except for armed robbery) actually show a decline over previous years' statistics. Yeah, I love it. Across all the stats, it's a wash - flat - no increase at all! Full pause. OK, the motivation for the DA's argument is understandable, given that he's probably a tad bit defensive about what's been happening on his watch.

But, is there even any real support for his argument at all? Are those other crimes really down, or is that statistical decline simply misleading? I could only vote for "really down" if I ignore that crime statistics correlate best with what the cops are doing, rather than with what the criminals are doing. In this case, there's little room to argue that police "stats" are inescapably impacted by lack of administration support, department morale problems, force reductions (defunding, and officers escaping to other departments or early retirement), and diminishing 911 calls because "what's the use of calling?" (if the cops don't show up, or if BLM convinced me I'll get shot 'cause I'm BIPOC, or if the DA won't prosecute, or if the sentence will be only a slap on the wrist anyway).

So, my vote goes to "misleading"; there are just too many real-world variables that can combine to artificially lower those "all other" crime stats in spite of what's really happening on the streets of Philadelphia. I think the Philly DA is treading water and grasping at straws. However, I wouldn't be surprised to hear the DA's argument regurgitated by other big city administrations in the next couple of months.
