If they can help make self defense ILLEGAL, then that negates a primary reason to own a gun.
Then banning and confiscating them is easier.

Look at Canada, Australia, Britain. . Defend yourself against violence in ANY MANNER and you are in more trouble than the criminal. Even non-lethal defense is illegal in many places.

If a self - defense act with a firearm is legally carried out AND 'justified' it cannot be considered 'violent'.

It would be an actionable and acceptable response to the threat.

Trust me - if you are ever in a situation where you have to use a firearm for 'justified self defense' - 'violence' ain't on your mind....
