Very humbling experience last night. After a Dr. appointment I took my mother in law to yesterday afternoon we met my wife after her work. Her parents and we all went out to Chinese. I was wearing my USS Kittyhawk ball cap and Dick my FIL (Vietnam vet) was wearing his USAF Retired hat. When it came time to pay for the 4 of us our waitress told us the bill had been paid! A complete stranger and his son covered the whole tab. We were speechless, I then thanked and hugged them when we left. Most people would have steered clear of the guy. Big biker looking man with full sleeve tats...It goes to show, there are still caring and giving people in our country. He thanked us both for our service, I said it was our privilege.:) Northern California is very different from SoCal, to say the least.

Good to know there are still a few more of us out there that aren't afraid to show gratitude... in Hell A, you and they would probably have been burned at the stake.

I am wearing my JEFFERSON 51st STATE "DON'T TREAD ON ME" t-shirt as I write this.
My Jefferson ball cap is on my chest of drawers. Both were bought by my wife as Christmas presents when we moved down here near Redding in late November.

Nice... I actually did the same thing when I was in Washington DC about 10 years ago on business. I took my wife with me and we stopped at Burger King of all places on the way back to the hotel to grab "dinner" (I am not sure fast food qualifies as dinner, but I digress). At any rate, there were about 10 or 12 VFW gents there getting a bite to eat at the other cash register down from me and I told the gal behind my register that I was buying all of their food as well as my own. They each politely thanked me... I figured it was the least I could do for people who have put so much on the line for my freedom. I thank all of you who have served or are now defending this great nation.:s0160::s0067:

Thats an awesome feeling isnt it Bro? American Patriots are still among us.
Last winter around Christmas my wife and I were at an Applebee's and my wife overheard a young couple talking about missing their home & how the move out here had cost so much. Their 3 year old boy kept turning around and looking at me, thinking I was Santa!!! So conversations started and found out they were transferring here from N.C. I also was raised there, good people.
We left before they did and we paid their bill including a nice tip, I turned around & gave them a salute as we left. It is such a good feeling to help out a fellow soldier and his family.:)

I first learned about the State of Jefferson almost 20 years ago when I was living in Klamath Falls. Interesting history and not a bad idea.

If all you ever watch/read was the mainstream media, you'd get a sense that true patriotism is long dead, left in favor of worrying about social justice issues, which seem to be to many now, the most important thing in the world. I come from a line of vets going back at least to the Civil War (northern army Major), to WWI (great grandfather), WWII (grandfather) and Vietnam (father). I have long had a deep appreciation for our military and those who have served. I am always glad when I see how many others, regardless of what the media tells us, have that deep appreciation for our military, which, in my mind, translates to a deep appreciation for our country and its values - the values on which it was founded.

Thank you to you and your FIL for your service, I'm glad you found some folks that felt the same way.

Great story and thanks for sharing. It sure feels good to be reminded there is still a lot of Red, White and Blue running through the veins of our countrymen. To ALL Veterans that may read this today...I thank you for your service.

That's great I like to hear stories like that lol I'm not bragging but I'm going to tell my one story just because it made me feel good lol I was at the casino in Tacoma a few years ago playing cards and had won almost $2000 dollars and drinking a few beers and talking to the guy next to me or should I say kid lol he was 22 or 23 he told me that he was there with some others that they all were going to deployment the next night lol anyway there were five of them from Fort Lewis they were getting ready to leave because they had lost their money they had to gamble so I gave each one $50 in chips and ordered five beers for them lol best 300 bucks I ever spent at a casino I don't live in Tacoma any more but when I did on weekends you could go to almost any tavern and meet army or Air Force guys and girls lol not so much girls but anyway just buying them a beer and playing pool and talking s#@$ is a good day for you and them lots of them from other states and far from home so just a beer and a friendly conversation is a good night
