What are flechette rounds used for?

A flechette round contains hundreds of small, needle- or razor-like projectiles designed to penetrate armor and inflict painful wounds. They are banned by the Geneva Convention but do still see use in combat and counter-terrorism from time to time. People will put just about anything in a shotgun and call it ammo.


One explanation added that some shotshells carry 30 or so 1" darts that penetrate bushes to take out snipers. Hmmm.

Looking back at the monster dart in the OP, it looks like if that thing stabilized, it could go thru an exterior wall with ease, and even a block wall. Probably not concrete tho. Be nice to have a vid of that test... ;):)
